Dansby does not see Pats as a destination

I would disagree with you about Dockett's performance over the past 2 years. He has been a rock in the Cards DL even going back 3 years ago. He started to catch fire last year in the playoffs, or people started noticing him a lot more.

Saying he was awful, I wouldn't go that far. 50+tackles each of the last three seasons and 20 sacks over those seasons.

Now, I don't know how he would do being in a 3-4, but saying that he hasn't done anything to give him praise...wow!

I'm sorry, but stats aren't good enough. So he tackles a lot - wow.

The cards defense has been crap for a reason. And he's part of it.

Just to add to that, with regards to Watson, from what I remember, we only had Graham on the roster when the Draft rolled round, and #84 was seen as a top 20 pick. When he dropped all the way to #32, the Pats simply had to take him. I'm not sure Dansby was ever an option with Bruschi, Johnson and Phifer on the roster.

As for Hill, he was touted as a first round pick by some of the draftnik's, and had no business dropping to #64 (in the same way Wilfork had no business being there at #21).

And I'm really not sure how Dockett was a fit for the 3-4 anyway. At the Combine he measured in at 6'3, 297lbs - that's 4-3 DT territory, and is in no way a fit for our 3-4.

Compare and contrast to Hill who measured in at 6'7", 296lbs. That's a 3-4 DE right there.

You lost your credibility as soon as you had Hill as a Rd#1 pick.

Comparing height and weight again.....vs heart. By your measure Welker would not even make it in NFL since he is not the "prototypical " WR.

You draft players who can play and have HEART .......not have a collection of 6'7" 297 DL who was a benchwarmer, or a FAST TE who was 25 when drafted and couldn't catch for lick, or then turnaround and draft an immature 20yr old WR with a "prototypical" WR measureables but no brain or hands or desire.

Agree, Darnell Dockett has turned himself into a very good DL past 3-4 yrs. He was a very good player at FSU

For the other guy to call him as JAG just goes to show his level of football intelligence.

Its questionable whether he would be "too short" for 3-4, but the guy is high motor. We need more "attitude" plauers like him

By your analysis since Cards D was crap.....that means Karlos Dansby is crap too. LOL

Since Raiders suck, Nmandi Asomugha is a piece of crap.

Get a clue. There you go again, stick to your Manchester United watching cuz NFL is out of your league.

The Cards defense has some holes in it but Dockett and Dansby are high-calibre players. Dockett had something like 7 sacks this past season and even though Dansby didn't have a lot of impact plays this year he's still a good LB with solid instincts. The Cards' main problem is with their OLBs. (reminds me of some other team )

Well he might be good, Dansby that is, but isn't he in a 4-3 now?

Anyway, He'd be very expensive, I'd hate to have another 4 years of misery, a la AD if it doesn't work out.

I think we should sink or swim with guys we draft and castoffs who are cheap but fit our system. That's the way we won all those SBs.

So, I'd pass on this guy.

Nope it clearly says in the article that he would prefer to remain in a 3-4 defense like the Cards current D.

I think LFC means Liverpool Football club but I agree with you, Dockett is a beast!

QFT.

Marquise was nowhere near a 1st-round consideration in any publication I read or heard. He was a borderline late 2nd/early 3rd at best.

And Bumblin' Bennie as a top-20? That is laughable beyond belief. After Winslow, Ben Troupe was the consensus best-available TE, and he wasn't taken until 40. As it turned out, Chris Cooley was the best of the bunch, and he wasn't taken until 81.

OTOH, Dansby was a consensus early 20s-late 20s talent, and would've made a nice complement to a Pats' LB corps long on experience & success but already short on youth.

Thats a helluva argument you got there pal...he's English and therefore he cannot possibly know anything about NFL and he disagrees with you. Have you read some of the States based posters on here? They aint all football gurus though some of them seem to know more than BB. You spoil your own argument resorting to insults.

Me? huh?

Serious question, do you have problem reading?

Sorry, what are you talking about?

Measurables DO matter when you're drafting for a scheme. Unless you want a 6'0 250lbs guy playing DE in the 3-4. if so, I hope you enjoy watching his ass handed to him on a plate.

Dockett is small for a 3-4 DE, and doesn't hold up when run at. Go and look at the stats. He's part of the reason their D has been poor for years.

So why did we Draft those players if heart is all that matters? Do you think the pats drafted those players knowing what their careers would be like?

Seriously dude, you've gone full ******.

His stats for 2009. Check out the big, fat, bright red next to his name. That means he was crap from what they saw. You'll find the same for 2008 too, although somewhat eased by him facing one of the worst LG/LT tandems in the league in the Superbowl.

You and your buddy are flat. out. wrong.

Yep, full ****** initiated.

It's about watching players individually, sadly I don't think you have even the slightest grip on what is being discussed here.

Ha ha. Clueless. Mind you, that wasn't in any doubt reading your posts.

Simply not true about Dockett. He's okay in passing situations, but the guy is a liability against the run.

Let's get Dansby and Peppers and draft well. That should do it.

2004 NFL Draft Prospects - Marquise Hill

There's one, and I saw two more the other day when researching Patriots Draft history.

And Bumblin' Bennie as a top-20? That is laughable beyond belief. After Winslow, Ben Troupe was the consensus best-available TE, and he wasn't taken until 40. As it turned out, Chris Cooley was the best of the bunch, and he wasn't taken until 81.

I suppose you see it that way when posting with 20:20 hindsight

Watson was very highly rated when he was coming out. Same as Gresham now.

OTOH, Dansby was a consensus early 20s-late 20s talent, and would've made a nice complement to a Pats' LB corps long on experience & success but already short on youth.

Whilst Watson gave them a big, fast target in the passing game, something they didn't have on the team.

You're never wrong when posting in hindsight though eh?

"Unlax" a bit BP, let's not allow the wankers in our midst to get us too fired up.
