Congrats to Mark Morse who started the "Who Will Repace Maroney" thread and immediately opined days ago that Woodhead, cut from the JETs, should be signed.

Welker's absence had a lot more to do with the offensive struggles than anything O'Connell could have possibly helped the Jets with.

Just because one factor is bigger than another doesn't mean the other factor is insignificant.

It's like saying that if a guy with a knife threatens you, go ahead and mock him because he's not as dangerous as a man with a gun. Well, true, but ...

Having the other team's protection calls makes the other team change their calls at the last minute, and the chance for a screwup is huge.

If he is that good, why did the Jesters release him, particularly when their QB needs all help?

The voice of reason speaks up. Everyone is overreacting to this. The guy has done nothing in the NFL and was just cut by a team that got 7 first downs in their opener. He was signed for information/ mind games, nothing more, nothing less. The over under for days on the team is set at 3.5.

So you honestly believe with an active Welker the Patriots wouldn't have scored significantly more than 9 points? The 2009 team minus Welker or Moss was a terrible offensive team.

Why wasn't this done sooner? I mean, what's the point in waiting until Saturday to do this when they coulda had him in early this week and gotten lots of inside info about the Jets' offense, or lack thereof? :lol2:

Easy, because by signing him just 24 hours before gametime, it gives the jets little time to change their audibles. It might not be even possible for the sanchez to learn new audibles in a day

Reporter: "Bill, was the signing of Woodhead a shot across the bow of RYan and the Jets, some sort of payback for the O'Connell incident last year and maybe a little gamesmanship to try to learn some of the Jets audibles?"

You may be right, on Hard Knocks the guy sure looked like a peewee who won a contest and was allowed to practice with the big boys. He was one of the few Jets that I was actually pulling for - his speed and quickness when combined with his obvious drive can perhaps overcome his vertical limitations and allow him to add value - I’ll take $25.00 on the over please.

Belichick and Parcells love guys like this - 5'6" 200 lb bowling ball with speed. Sort of a Dave Meggett type RB who can line up in the slot and raise hell among the LBs. This guy won the best player in Division II twice. Held the NCAA all-time all divisions rushing record two years ago.

This guy has guts and is fearless as the youtube videos show. He's sort of the anti-Maroney who got dinged and could never play. (Maroney is out this week for Denver with a thigh bruise.)

I can just see it - Gronk, Crumpler and the Lollipop Guild of Woodhead, Edelman, and Welker.

I love this move.

This is an utterly false and misleading statement. I am shocked that you would post such a blatantly inaccurate statement. The team that cut him in fact did not get 7 first downs in their home opener.
