Current Practice Squad Eligibility

By 4PM Monday October 6th the Patriots will have to make room on the 53-man roster for Brandon Browner and maybe Brian Tyms. If Browner or Tyms are on the 53-man roster for the Bengals game, any corresponding roster moves have to be made by 4PM Saturday.

Below are the players who if waived are eligible to be signed to the practice squad.

My picks (figuring on keeping both Browner and Tyms) would be two of the following:

Zach Moore (Rookie)
Deontae Skinner (Rookie)
Aaron Dobson (one accrued season)
Tavon Wilson (two accrued seasons)

I think that Dobson has the edge on going, since he's already in the dog house with the coaching staff. It might force him to learn a little respect and humilty, something he seems to be lacking at the moment.

Tayvon Wilson would probably be my second guess as to who goes with Dobson. But, again, that's only my gut feeling. I'm certain we'll see a couple surprises between now and Saturday.

If Dobson is waived ?he is gone. I do not get the demand of respect from the coaching staff at all. It is not high school. They are all paid to give their best to win, not to suck up to each other. Plus Josh the wiser is not doing so hot lately.

The jets would snatch up Dobson in a new York minute as well as Cleveland.
No way Dobson goes on the practice squad unless we are parting ways with him.

We might ask who are the uninjured players who contribute the least. As of now, I believe that the two who meet the test are Moore and Harmon. However, that doesn't mean that Belichick will cut them.

Thompkins could be a choice if Tyms is to be activated.

It is tougher picking the defensive back (we won't keep 12). Jones is on all six of the special teams, and seems likely to stay , or be cut tomorrow.

I don't think that we will have 12 defensive backs. I don't think that we will cut our only backup LB without replacement.

The roster spot will be used in another way tomorrow. It could be used on Browner, but apparently will not be used for him. Currently, it looks like the spot will be used for LB Davis, since Hightower is nicked up a bit.

In any case, there was no reason to wait to waive Thompkins if he wasn't going to be active tomorrow and was going to be cut on Monday.
