He’s not a DE and neither was the one guy you’re likely basing this sweeping generalization on that came over to the Pats in 2007.

Adalius Thomas played well his first two years with the Pats, had 11.5 sacks through his first 25 games and was among their leading tacklers. He broke his forearm 9 games into 2008 and missed the rest of the year. It wasn’t until his third season that he became a liability.

Parnell McPhee’s first season away from Baltimore, in Chicago, he set a career-high in tackles to go along with 6 sacks.

And Lawrence Guy has played some of his best football in New England.
