I’d say give it at least 4-5 weeks from now and then evaluate the situation and very likely extend it.
I think it is optimistic to open everything up in 2 weeks. I mean, we've been pretty much locked down for almost 2 weeks, so that would be a month for me. Maybe some places could be okay for easter.

We just need more testing to figure out what the deal is....the key is to ensure everyone knows that we should expect a long lock down period. False hope leads to frustration and anger.

Most of the country hasn't even started locking down yet. Florida's still open for business.

Hi Tommy. Im a MA resident and was a registered Republican here up until Donald Trump. I hate his arrogance and narcissism. Its repugnant to me. That doesn't mean that im a big fan of the Democrats. Until Trump I thought they were the biggest hypocrites of all......and the news networks with their nightly "we got Trump this time" reporting complete with 2 or 3 anti Trump guests that's been non stop for the past 3 years got me to not even bothering to watch. This time though Trump has Trumped his own outrageousness. Think for yourself man. You're a talking point parrot. I haven't seen an original thought out of you since this started.

I know we clashed a bit earlier but I sincerely appreciate this post. Thank you for saying this.

The only way to end the radicalized/cult-like thinking and unconditional support we see from guy's like Tommy is for like-minded individuals (such as longtime conservatives/Republicans) to call them on their nonsense early and often.

Thanks again for the post. I appreciate it quite a lot and it's desperately needed in the current political climate.

There's a few Counties in So Fl that have closed restaurants and bars, most schools have been closed. There are fewer cars on the road but yea no mandated lockdown which is crazy with our demographics, especially in Palm Beach.

Q: what do you say about FL not closing their beaches and letting thousands of spring breakers gather...

T: Gov. DeSantis is doing a great job. He is a great Gov.

Trump says that all of the Governors of states that show low # of cases are doing a great job. Does he believe the Governors are actually doing something to contain the virus? Clearly these states aren't performing enough tests or maybe not reporting the results?

There's no national strategy. How is it they don't stop travel from NY?

Stop travel everywhere. Throw up roadblocks like Italy and require authorization to move about. The states can only do so much, and some can't be counted upon to do anything at all.

They are saying a 40 year old birthday party in westport CT was a super spreader for corona. I have a bad feeling those spring breakers are going to spread this thing all over

And just like that, right before 00:00 GMT, we exceeded yesterday's death toll of 140.

143 people died today. 696 people have died in the U.S. from COVID, in total.

Unsurprising, but sad nonetheless. The current mortality rate (of known cases) is 1.30%, and that's likely to increase as medical resources are strained.

The projections so far have largely been on the mark, and that should be very worrisome. Hopefully those downplaying/denying the severity of this situation will come around.

If the US population is younger than South Korea, that’s a positive for us.

We could try to discuss viruses mutating, but I think that’s out of our range...it is for me other than what I read. I do have a lot of hope in what this scientist is forecasting

“The US will see a turning point in the battle to contain coronavirus sooner than expected, according to the Nobel laureate who correctly predicted when China would get through the worst of its crisis.”

Pretty sure the age of our population is much closer to Italy's than it is South Koreas. And 2 latter countires could not be more opposite

Not entirely accurate. 172m people told to stay home, before Maine and Vermont followed suit today. 17 total states, with another 11 with partial or county shut downs. That's 52% of the country before VT and Maine. I would expect more tomorrow.

This is wholly incorrect. The South Korean and Italian population pyramids resemble each other much more than they resemble the US. The Italian population skews a little older but the US population is generally one of the youngest in the developed world (largely because of immigrants).

They don’t know **** about this virus. Does this sound like anything heard about before?

CDC says coronavirus RNA found in Princess Cruise ship cabins up to 17 days after passengers left

adding that the finding doesn’t necessarily mean the virus spread by surface.

Unless I'm reading that article wrong it's impossible to draw a conclusion from it and it sounds like the CDC is reporting facts and the press is running with it. If RNA material is there that doesn't mean it could still transmit from the surface to a human.

If it is, however, 17 days and still able to be transmitted from a surface to a human being means we're absolutely ****ed until there is a vaccine or widely available treatment.

Im a buffoon. I thought I had read somewhere that 28 percent or so of Italy's population was under the age of 60. Turns out it said the complete opposite. I had a feeling that did not sound right

A birdie told me that @TommyBrady12 lives in a super liberal district.

Hey, DC may be liberal but it is "The Most Powerful City on Earth"

Could be it's compensating for something ...
(maybe its that small electoral vote count)

So many arguing right vs left ... exactly what they want you to do.
I like to see the good and bad of both ... sadly more bad than good.

This pandemic shows how dysfunctional some of our people are.
We have more people in this country who stock up on canned goods
than the government has in stocks for emergencies. They like to cut
down on supplies while they over staff bloated agencies.
