Cornerback

I have not studied them at all, but I will and get back to you.

Thomas had an exceptional game against Alabama. LSU primarily used him to spy Hurts, but he also picked up slot coverage responsibilities. He looked like the ideal "star" for our nickel packages.

I'd like to suggest that the 3-cone is a side effect, and not the starting point. In other words, the Patriots want corners with good movement skills and Wich reactions in coverage, which ends up translating into good agility test numbers. (Also, I'm still salty the Jets stole Roberts. He was a major binkie.)

The corner class is unreal this year. Starters will go undrafted.

Wish BB was a little more patient with him would have made Logan Ryan's departure a lot easier to stomach.

I've mentioned Wilson before, but he's finally getting more videos on draftbreakdown. This guy looks like a Patriots corner. Aggressive against the run, good ball skills, and great route anticipation. I'd love to get this guy in the mid rounds.

Well yes, but it's a good way to measure the effect. I don't think it a coincidence that four of the seven CBs drafted in the last six years all have outstanding 3-cones.

I just realized I rated this one dislike. That was a mistake. I fixed it. Sorry!

No problem. I assumed as much. Was tempted to give your apology a dislike just out of revenge

Any thoughts on Brendan Langley as a late round guy? 6002 199. His coach claims 4.2 speed, though I expect it's more like 4.4. Played WR, DB, and returned punts. Decent article from a Steelers draft site with some videos from the Senior Bowl.

Steelers Draft Prospect: Brendan Langley

2017 NFL Draft Profile: Brendan Langley

Raw technique, and he'll have to answer questions about transferring due to lack of playing time (attitude issues? is he just not very good? etc). Still, the size/speed is there. Might be worth a look in the 7th.

This is a useful guide to the leading CBs in the draft

Looking at run defense and the 'playmaker' grades, Rasul Douglas and Jourdan Lewis look like the best value fits for the Pats based on this alone.

Where's Howard Wilson on this list?

Gilmore has awfully similar testing numbers to Conley and Wilson. Wilson isn't as fast, and didn't jump as well, but otherwise he's very similar physically in terms of size and quickness. Conley looks like a good match, except for the short shuttle. Just food for thought.

I just started to get interested in Conley and have liked Wilson for a while. Oh well, time to recalibrate. Also sad that I might have to give up on Budda too if the harmon news is right.

Boy, King can't play much better than this. Sticky coverage, fights off blocks in the run game, some big tackles, and a great effort play on special teams. If we're moving toward longer man corners with great shuttle and 3-cone drills, he's got to be at the top of the list.

And if Ryan walks, having someone with inside capabilities becomes a must. Gilmore and Rowe are definitive outside guys, and the Jones brothers have a lot to prove.

Some King tapes look like top 10 tape. Others, well, show the need for a lot of coaching.

After today, I have a bit of an inkling for Chidobe. Can play outside and inside and that might be what we're lacking now that Ryan has gone.

Entirely possible. As it stands right now (and things moving a million miles an hour) we will probably be using our top pick on D-line. Getting someone like Awuzie at 64 probably fits the value scale right now.

Until Jimmy gets traded for all the Browns picks, that is.

I wouldn't be writing off Jackson without knowing the full story.

He is raw, and needs work. But, that's understandable since he's never participated in spring practice or played corner full time. He's run track at USC and spent ladt Spring attempting to qualify for the Olympics. That speaks to the kind of athlete he is.

Even when on the field, he has split time at WR and on ST. Hasn't been able to fully focus on the nuances of the CB spot.

He's not raw because he hasn't been able to develop like a guy whose played a spot for 4/5 years.

His athleticism, agility, speed, and change of direction are all elite. He's got tremendous football character, and character in general. He's also improved each year in all facets. He's already got excellent ball skills. He's solid versus the run. Yes, he will struggle versus size but that's the big knock. That's why he's not a top 20 pick.

Basically, I don't see why being a tad bit raw takes him off BBs board. Jamie Collins was raw in many areas and we selected in the 2nd. Vollmer years ago was raw and we took him on potential. This isn't to argue that we will take Adoree but I think character, work ethic, and all the desired movement skills BB wants in a corner absolutely puts him on the board.
