"Come to us because we are the worst, surely will have an opportunity to improve this team"

We need a better pitch than that.
Mass is like California only better?

No earthquakes either.

You're obviously twisting words and leaving out context.

Let's just use NYG Edge Azeez Ojulari as a case study. He's going into his age 25 season, coming off 4 year rookie deal. As a rookie he played a lot, but since then he's been down more towards pass rush specialist and part time rotational player. Lots of teams probably pursue him in that role with a nice contract.

Us, on the other hand, can try to sell him on the idea that we can offer him the opportunity to play full time. Give him a chance to prove himself as an every down player. Sign a 2-3 year deal here and with that extra playing time, his market value will be way higher when he hits FA again if it's coming off a stint with another team as a situational rusher.

The opportunity to play a lot is huge for guys in their career progressions and their market value. Not every player is at a point in their career with generational wealth in the bank and now looking to ring chase. This board only focuses on those guys though - the ones that are in or nearing their 30s with all pro plaques on the wall and money for their kid's kid's kid's already saved up - because they're the big names and proven players. We won't be very attractive to those guys. But guys who are less established and looking for playing time and the opportunity to prove themselves as better players than they've been so far and want to set themselves up to do better on their next contract always look at teams in the position we're in differently.

If we sign Kupp it means we trade or cut Bourne right ?

Makes it more likely, but I wouldn't assume. My guess is that they want to head into the draft with Pop Douglas, Boutte and 2 vets in their top 4 WRs. Bourne right now is one of the vets. Those would be the guys expected to be active on gameday and get the snaps. Polk/Baker would be slotted into #5/6 and gameday inactive slots, forced to earn playing time after disastrous rookie years. If the draft yields a WR they like, then someone's losing their job and that's ok because competition is good and the 7th WR on our depth chart likely isn't someone worth worrying about losing.

Right now, Bourne is only 1 of those 2 vets. So I don't think he's on the chopping block unless they add a second vet. But if they only added one vet and then a roster-able rookie, he's a prime candidate to lose his job in training camp. Only way I see him gone before TC is if we add 2 vet receivers.

If the Aiyuk talks are real, my guess is he'd be in that deal FWIW.

There is no way we cut borne. First he is needed and 2nd at 5mill he is a bargain in this market.
You just signed Mack Hollins who's had better production for less money.
Kendrick Bourne ain't exactly Randy Moss. He had a good first season, and then fell off a cliff. That was four seasons ago, btw.

His 2023 season was on pace to be just as good, if not better than his first year here until the injury. He had a drop off in 2022 with his weird Patricia beef. Last year he was really bad to start the year, a little better as it went on. Which is normal coming off injury. My guess is that in year 2 back, he’ll be some approximation of the player he was in 2021 and 2023.

Don't know why people are hung up on that Scrub Bourne unbelievable.

If Kupp gets cut I don’t see him coming here. The Pats sure aren’t going to offer him more money than he was set to make with the Rams (nor should they). But I think the best chance of him being in New England is trading a low Day 3 pick (thinking maybe 6th rounder given Kirk only cost a 7th rounder). Have him for two years, cross your fingers that he stays healthy, and can be a leader by example for this WR room. I’d rather have him than overpay for what’s left of the free agent WR’s. I don’t see it happening but that’s where I am with it.

It's obvious based on age and other factors he won't go to a Rebuild over a Contendah.

I’m curious if the perception around the league after FA is that the Patriots are a hopeless situation or if they’re the Commanders from last year. For that particular reason I think there’s a chance something could happen.

Bourne is a JAG. They save $6.3 m a June 1 cut designation. Take that $ and apply it to LT or a better WR

30yo before the start of the season and his 28 catches last year makes him short for this team
