So don't you, your one of the non stop complainers on this board.

hmmm... With Wilhite down, Bodden down, we need Butler more than ever when we face Balt, Indy and/or NYJ.. They all run the 3 WR set. Chung covering the slot is probably not ideal.. I think people are generally happy with the outcome today but are looking to the future when we face the above mentioned teams and wonder if Butler will be picked on.

(side note) Making an observation on a player who looked to take a step back today isn't complaining. True to your point it was against Marshall but on two particular plays, he looked awful.. And I'm not sure why people say the PI was 'BS' or something to that effect. It was clearly a PI.. It's a head scratcher when people say it wasn't..

It was called that way, I was at the game and saw it 1st hand and a previous person mentioned the TV announcer said it.. I guess all 3 parties are wrong

We win 38-7 and the morons come out of the wood work
1. Hes covering one of the best WR's in the game a guy who is 6 inches taller ways 230 lbs and runs like a gazzel

2. I didn't see Butler push anyone in the back on that play.

3 On the TD the ball was thrown perfectly, i can't fault Butler on that one.

It's amazing. Butler has made multiple plays, including today, over several weeks, hasn't been burned in weeks though he logs 30 snaps a week, he makes one bad play... and the haters come out of the woodwork.

Funny stuff.

Butler's modus operandi, when he is beaten, is to commit a flagrant PI on the receiver. He began this bad habit in the pre-season. One telecast in the pre-season clearly showed an annoyed BB talking to Butler about it right after a PI. He did the same in the first two games and was benched right away. I thought he might have cured this problem, but today it showed that he hasnt. Interesting thing about his fouls, though, are that he mostly commits them when the receiver is not in a position to catch the ball!!

I premised my post by saying he's been solid for a couple of weeks but definitely took a step back

I posted on this thread last week because I was telling people that Butler was making plays and getting burned and that people on this board are like yo-yos when it comes to players. You have haters like the guy posting just above who don't know the first thing about football. Go to a game, watch the CBs play, and you get a good sense of what they can and can't do. Butler's play was no different today than any other day. He made several plays on both Marshall and Bess. He got beat by Marshall once, and I don't know what the guy above is talking about, but on the PI he was clearly not burned. I can't understand why someone is claiming that.

Read my posts on Butler from previous weeks when I got to watch him live and got a real sense for what he can do.

I'll say this: the haters will NEVER say a bad thing about the other CBs who give up a pass. Butler's % is somehow supposed to be 100% like no receiver should ever catch a pass against him.

He was still solid today. Yeah in meaningless time he had 1 bad play but the TD, I absolutely cannot blame him. He had good coverage it was just an excellent catch.

I think all he needs to do is learn how to play the ball. He'll be right in their grill and they'll catch it anyway...all he has to do is learn to run with his head turned to the ball.

the play where he let marshall catch the ball and then didn't want to tackle him and let him get an extra 30 yards...that was pathetic. He doesn't seem to be a very physical guy.

If they draft another CB, I hope they look at ball skills and tackling ability and not just "athletic ability".

I dont take Butler Jock Sniffers seriously.

so let me get this straight...the Patriots win 38-7 with Miami scoring a meaningless TD with two minutes left and somehow this has turned into a referendum on Butler? ..jeezus, can you chicken littles give it a break for at least ONE WEEK???

I simply make objective observations. Some are negative but also a lot of positives.

This time though, I just wondered what the hell DB was talking about regarding Butler's PI call. Do you agree with him that that should have been a non-call?

I am with you on this one. He needs to improve and fast, or he will get the Elis hobbs, maroney treatment.

Butler has improved his level of play tremendously in the past few games. For mine, the PI was a Colts PI call.. meaning it was bogus.

Butler has greatly improved from the disaster in week 2. His technique still irks me though, especially as a former CB/SS. He just doesnt look for the ball as much as he should. I often see him trailing the WR and not looking when he does.

Hmm well there you go. You never know what you'll find in the history of a Turkish mastermind gangster.

Give some props to Corwin Brown the ex-Pat d-back, who's now the d-back coach.

I remember him as a pretty good player.

He went on to coach at Notre Dame, and I think he's the main reason we have Sergio Brown from Notre Dame, who's made some good plays.

Good point. I forgot he was the DB coach.
