Good night for Colon ... who had to be a bit nervous.
He looked pretty good shape wise ... big but not too big.
His pitchers were pretty crisp and sharp ... 5 innings and 2 runs ... way to go. Got the Pic from Dirt Dogs ...
Too bad they only let him throw 74 pitches. I know they didn't want him to go out after a 30 minute wait, but it would have been nice to let him throw the 90 pitches they had planned on. But still, great outing all things considered. Lots of groundballs, all the hits were singles (and none hit hard), and a low pitch count.
Cross your fingers that he stays healthy, because the rotation will be in fantastic shape if he can give the team more quality outings like this.
Its been against the worst two offenses in the league, but even still its been impressive. I'll wait until he faces a halfway decent offense before I get too excited about it.
Plus, he started 5-0 last year and couldn't stay healthy or effective after that, so anything they get from him should be considered a blessing.
