I don't know maybe I am just not seeing those posts but ideally Strange works out but as far as Harry goes I desperately wanted him to work out. For a few minutes in 2019 it looked like we wouldn't even need him to develop that quickly with that famous picture of Edelman, Josh Gordon, Antonio Brown, and Dorsett all on the sideline during that one game Brown played. Then of course by the time Harry could come off IR Brown was long gone, Gordon was released, and Dorsett got banged up around that time.

The issue with Harry is that there were just so many early signs that he couldn't play. Many of us saw the training camp footage where he looked slow as molasses then he ended up with the ankle injury that landed him on IR missing half the year. Once he got back he didn't do much either and I will never forget him getting bullied on that slant against Bradley Roby that led to a pick. All the early signs combined with the fact that AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, Terry Mclaurin, and Deebo Samuel all had 800+ yards that same season and were available when Harry was taken that didn't help things either.

So maybe people weren't necessarily "rooting" for Harry to fail but I agree the tide turned on him almost instantly.
The way he dragged out his pre season injury was the one and only red flag for me. I called him a bust during the 2019 season. He had a sprain and he was in no rush in getting back onto the field until Nov. 2 (activated off injured reserve) which was 11 weeks since his injury. On the other hand, Mac Jones had a severe ankle sprain, but found his way back onto the field in 3-4 weeks. And this was a team that had no WR's standing in his way. I'm pretty sure the Pats knew he was a mistake when he finally got onto the field and was completely clueless getting yelled at constantly by Tom Brady.

Very sure he first got hurt in camp on his birthday. After that he was never 100%.

I understand he was also badly injured during a game (Chiefs?) but I'm unclear if that was an aggravation of the original injury that had plagued him since TC, or a different one.
They showed a replay of the guy's leg whipping across his knee as he was blocking downfield

Yep. And he'd also injured that knee in camp, on his bday, and it caused him to miss time and play hurt until late in the year.

I understand the second injury is a re-injury. If it was caused by a guy whipping his leg of whatever else at it doesn't change that.

I think posters do want to see Strange fail to prove a point. When a pick is not popular and Bill goes against the consensus, that pisses fans off and are chomping at the bit to say they were right when the player Bill drafted fails. Case in point N'Keal Harry and the WR's that went after him.
absolutely not.
at the time of the draft, many thought that Strange would not be a stud, but would be a very solid player and anchor the OL for a long time.
older player. smaller school/lower competition. for an OG, all acceptable as long as he panned out, started the OL turn around, and stopped the bleeding on poor BB drafts. he just had to be very good, not great.
he has not been.

Strange69 may be done. Certainly not going to be heard from for much of the season.

But Sidy Sow at LG, the position he played for numerous years in college, is an unexpected boon.

The Rams would LOVE to take a flier on CS next season. Thinking they’ll offer a sixth-rounder. And we’ll have to learn to love it.

Since 2015 or so Belichick the GM sucked big time. No one’s going to hire him to duplicate the HC/GM role that he did. Unremitting drek.

Second-rounder Jordan Richards in 2015, the choir boy from Stanford who had no business being anything more than an undrafted FA, was the time to have demoted BB from his drafting responsibilities.

Onwenu signed the largest OL contract in Patriot history and all you people want to talk about or start numerous threads about is Strange.
Why? We had a dumpster fire at RT the year before. Remember Wynn playing over there? Picking daisies in Green Bay? Giving free shots at his QB who subsequently left the game with a serious concussion?

So we bring in a Jets PS player after Marcus Cannon, past his due date, was brought in out of desperation.

Thank goodness for Conor McDermott.

And Ohio State’s massive and talented RT DAWAND JONES falls into our laps in the third round the following draft! It was set up perfectly.

Belichick, in another of his cheeky, incompetent moves, takes a hybrid defender out of Sacramento State who is still looking for a home on the Patriots defense.

So out of necessity Onwenu had to be moved out and paid up.

Oh, we may need McDermott again this year. At the potential dumpster fire at LT.

Thank goodness for Conor McDermott.

McDermott was playable at both OT spots. I thought more so than Lowe.

That can't be. They have to be two totally different injuries. When the patellar thing happened, I posted here that this is a rare but serious injury that keeps players out for close to a year, and that Strange is going to be missing for a while.

We're talking about two different injuries, not a reinjury. Strange got injured in training camp last year. There is no way he would've come back for the 5th game if that was the same patellar injury. Missing 6-8 weeks is more like a ligament strain or MCL strain.

In any case, the leg whip caused this.

What are you basing your post on that it's the same?

No, he's right, you're biased as hell. You wanted to fire BB back before the 2014 season began. You want to scuttle Jake Andrews, Marcus Jones... anyone with the BB stink on them. Laughable....

Back at that draft most of you didn't know who Cole Strange was anymore than you knew who Logan Mankins was... most only study "weaponz" anyhow.

Strange has been very good, then he got hurt... you haters misrepresenting his level of play doesn't change that.

It's the same knee (left) that kept him on the injury report half the season. That's all I got. A knee that is already damaged can break more easily. Sort of like a door breaking open the second time you kick it.

I'm open to the possibility either way that it may or may not be related. Neither hill looks a good place to die for me.

Much love and cheers.

You're conflating things.

The knee was hurt in training camp right before the season. He was back 4 weeks later. That cannot be a patellar injury.

He busted his kneecap this last time. That's a year long injury. It has actually ended careers.

A break is a break. You don't come back from that after a few weeks. The training camp in jury didn't cause him to miss half the year. He was back in game 5.

Now, you say this isn't a hill worth dying on. But it is if you're going to label him injury prone. Getting your knee cap busted from a leg whip is a freak injury that has nothing to do with your durability nor with your training or ability to withstand pain etc. It's as incidental as a broken leg from getting malachi-crunched between 2 defenders.

no one knew much about Strange. but no one wanted to see him struggle or worse, injure.
after the draft, which everyone panned, I posted as long as he is solid and plays a long time, it stopped the BB bleeding in the drafts.
he has not been very good, as stats also indicate. he had a chance to be solid. good. but injuries have been in the way.

I love Marcus Smart. I happen to believe his best spot is slot CB, and also feel Jon Jones is the better slot CB. I do not love the thought of Marcus playing majority of the outside CB snaps given his height. I also love his ability at WR.

I hope J Andrews is an all Pro. unfortunately I see a team running an offense that likes bigger IOL and see Mafi, Sow, Robinson and maybe Turner ahead of him.

is 2014 I was consistently posting that Bill was the best HC in the NFL, more likely in all of sports. that he was a great GM but about league average in the draft. in about 2019 he fell to bottom third in the draft. Post Brady I was very vocal about giving him 5 years to turn the team back into a winner.

I am on record that the current management staff will turn this roster over completely very quickly and rid the team of BB players.

but none of that has any bearing on the fact that Cole Strange has been truly mediocre when healthy

Missed this roster move
GM Wolf really exploring all avenues

This ****ing dude wasn’t even the starting Left ****ing Tackle on his own dam pissant D3 ****ing team, and Billy Notgoat takes him with the 29TH overall pick in the whole ****ing draft when he was barely a top-75 value, and unsurprisingly he has failed to justify his status…

A pox on both their houses.

McVay & Snead were right.
McVay and Snead were clearly laughing at Bill, and as it turns out rightfully so. He was a ****ty 1st round pick.

The idea that a fan shouldn't complain about a player, coach or owner is laughable, especially on a 4-13 team in a downward spiral with a pretty bare cupboard.

The hole that Billy Notgoat left this team in is a deep one but survivable with some good moves.

I was with you until the last line. BB will be in the HoF and more than likely have a statue outside of Gillette right next to Brady's.

If there is a statue (a ridiculous idea for any athlete or coach) it should be of Brady carrying Belichick, just as he did until Bill's ego drove Tom away.
