Cole Strange - a nice breakdown

Pats interior line, strange, onwenu and Andrew’s were the most consistent parts of the O line. Strength of the running game. Definitely something to build on. Need to improve depth and tackles.

For a Rookie Cole Strange played ok really hope he bulks up some in the offseason he looked a little light in the pants.
yeah, he needs to get stronger this offseason... he was rocked a few times by a flat out bull rush which lead to chaos in the backfield...

needs work on waaaay too many holding penanties... not sure if the majority are technique or positioning, either or, pick your poison... negate those, and we got something to work with

edit - overall though, i think he's a good player

We need a Stronger Center to anchor Andrews needs to go.

Starting from day 1 as a rookie is a tough task. With one year under his belt he will be much more consistent.
And he had to learn the NFL game without Dante as his coach. Instead, he had Matty P.

I bet we will see just that. You can also check out the draft forum. Bacongrundlecandy always does a nice layout in the prospects. I currently like the center from Oregon.

Fortunately for Cole he was playing w/ Brown and Wynn so we hardly noticed you buddy.

Fixed it for you gratis.
That's fair I suppose... But for a rookie on a disheveled line I thought he was better than average... But I am biased...

Agreed. Hoping for something like early Thuney--- passable for a rookie during rookie season, good in year 2, stud in year 3.

Cole isn’t nearly as good as the short clip shows. BTW on that webzine everyone is above average or is dominating. Go look for yourself.

Cole had an up and down year. Yes, he was a reach. Apparently not as bad as our second-rounder. He is an elite athletic specimen who is competitive and works hard. But he can get bull rushed—see the first game against the Jets—and it’s been a big jump from what he was asked to do in college.

He’ll be fine to great once he gets stronger and adds some weight.

If I was Strange Cole, I would call up Scar and ask him if I could come over with all my game film and get him to cast a critical eye on my technique. Strange could definitely bulk up and hit the weights but he could also get more out of what he currently has by perfecting his technique, a matter that I'd guess the current OL coach has spent zero time on what with everything else he had on his plate.

I think just the fact that the mina issues on the line weren't guard even in his rookie season is enough to think he will be ok.

I think a lot of people didn’t like *where* he was picked. But when you get an impact player in the first round, you have him for that fifth year option. It’s a good pick. If he improves, a great pick. We’re pretty good at scouting OL, so I didn’t have a problem with it.

Let's hope we are good at scouting OTs this year.

Can't have All-Pros everywhere. No team does. Do you ever consider that average to above average players paid appropriately are a positive or do you only think everyone should be better?

He played 17 games from a D2 school. He looks like he will be very good. You are nitpicking and trying to create a negative in a positive situation.

I celebrated my end of year perfect attendance awards back in grade school too.

this team needs to HIT on first/second round picks. first round picks should not be guys with any "if than"s in their season reviews. Strange was serviceable in his rookie year. You need more than serviceable out of your first round picks.
