Some good news for once... No matter your opinion on Strange he is one of the better lineman we have... Instant upgrade to the left side of the line ... Well, after he knocks the rust off... Still no timetable set for his return

First thing I thought when I saw the title.

I wish we knew whether he'll likely amount to much. I don't think we saw enough before the injury to know. I don't recall his having wowed anybody pre-injury, but I do recall broad bafflement that the Pats drafted him as high as they did.

To be honest I'm more concerned about the injury now. His pre injury performance wasn't great but it was pretty good and he toughed out last season on an injury.

But I thought he would have done more by now. Hearing that he just started football drills is a little concerning. I know people have said how significant the injury is but I guess I just thought he'd bounce back now I'm not so sure.

It seems to me like rather than expecting him to be some savior now I think I'm just hoping we can gather some info on his viability moving forward.

I mean, it's Week 9 already. If he takes 2 or 3 weeks to get ready you're looking at Week 11 or 12 with 5 games to go. I know there's a late bye in there but is it really worth it to get him in there to play 5 meaningless games at the end of the season? I mean, how effective is he going to be, really, after a year off? Add in another new offense and offensive line coach.

He was not close at all according to Mayo. Close in my mind is around week 6 not week 12. Might as well shut him down for the rest of the season.

Anybody know why we haven't signed that Guy below yet?? He still have threads left on his tires and when fully healthy is bett than what we currently have. Having Humphries in the fold next year with Cole Strange and a Rookie LT with upside could work wonders.

I know that he has plenty of detractors, the fact remains that Strange stepped in day 1 as a rookie and played at a level that is much higher than the players who have staffed the position this year. His injury was considered as potentially career ending. Getting him out there this year to allow him to erase any nagging doubts and tentative play that is normal after such an injury so that next year is a clean slate. It also gives the team an indication of his viability for next year. The team has so many holes to fill, it would be nice to be able to invest somewhere else if Strange is up to his normal standards.

I get your point we are bad on Offense but just as talent Devoid on Defense. We Need a lot of players: If this Team sleep walks in FA 25 I done with them forever.

That's why I said at this point it's less about helping now and more about his viability moving forward. I think it would be very meaningful for both the team and the player to find out as much as they can as soon as they can.

I would play him, see how he looks, and then decide on a short extension (2 years) or not depending upon how he looks.

jfc... i dont get some of you

scream to the heavens to play the rookie qb

we could be getting the best lineman we have under contract back, and its meh, why, we should just shut him down

put him in. let him play under the new scheme. see how he does

he cant do it all, but you're nuts and being deliberately obtuse if you think he wont help stabilize the line

bunch of warden nortons you are

It takes players over a year to come back. I'm not sure why they're so positive about return when all the other players have taken longer.

I suspect this is just PR because he'll be going into a contract year.

He doesn't want to sound damaged (which is always possible with this injury) so they are putting this out there now
