Coach Jerod Mayo appreciation thread

Some journalists wrote that it was somehow a bad look for Maye to skip speaking to the media about Mayo being fired the day after… I think some interpreted that he was upset… But it could also be that he was glad and wasn’t sure he could give a press conference about it without showing it
I’m glad he didn’t. This kid is putting team before speeches. He acts like a rookie should. That game where he told his 5 offensive line men “ it starts with us 6”… won me over. He’s a grunt. This kid is a leader of men and not an advertisement for selling seats…

Hmmm.. welll.. He lasted longer than Urban Meyer.

In fairness to him he inherited a tanking team and management took every possible opportunity to continue tanking during his tenure.

Always appreciated what Mayo stood for as a player. A good guy who didn't play for the money and did things the right way. I doubt he strayed to far from that as an assistant or head coach. I hope he gets a chance to continue his coaching journey. Most guys don't get it right the first time they HC.

Nope. I got nothing. He lost me at Thunder. What idiot says that in a press conference?
Every time someone brings this up, I can't help thinking about this song.

Thu thu thu Thunder.

That press conference was absolutely cringeworthy.

Always comes back to ownership. Kraft seems to have forgotten his non-interference lesson he learned from Bill Parcels.
People started using the backstairs to his office.
-Yoko complaining Tom was underappreciated and didn't get employee of the month.
-Mack whining.
"Bill had too much power."
-Et tu Mayo pulling a backdoor on BB.

Mayo was not a turn coat who betrayed Belichick. If that was true no way Brian Belichick stays working for him.

I appreciate Mayo for the Bengals win. Gave a sliver of hope for the season before it was quickly taken away
