Clapgate: A Penix Move

Well, I was ready to believe it because I thought I saw a DB clapping to get a teammates' attention earlier in the game. But in the clip provided when the ball was snapped NO ONE was 'clapping' like the guy said. At first, I wondered about Hawkins because his right hand is moving, but on second look, his left hand is by his side. All we are left is the age-old question, "What is the sound of one hand clapping?"

I thought Pennix was pointing to say that Robinson was in the area of the throw, but who knows. There is probably a half dozen early snaps that occur every week. Pretty low-grade stuff by Morris if you ask me. He needs to apologize publicly if it's confirmed that no one was clapping on that play.

"It wasn't me, it was the other guy" attitude, has permeated our society. Sounds like an interview I saw last night on 60 minutes

I am sure I read the KC defense was doing this in the SB to mess with the tush push.

It was the ghost of Eddie Andelman.

Isn't it a penalty to mimic the snap count?

Seems like I've seen it called before. If so the Referees did not hear it?

Clearly this guy didn’t play in the “ no batter, can’t hit. SWING!” Era. Even as kids we learned to tune that out and just get up and make it happen at the plate.

Keep looking at every video and can’t find any evidence. Maybe we got a player that has Michael Winslow ability from Police Academy?

Did he die...seriously. I used to listen to him he could be really obnoxious
He seems to be alive and at a ripe old age of 88 living in Florida. That comment had me confused too.

Definitely

Or to say "Hike" to get the QB all confused.

I didn't know that Chuck Schumer was on 60 minutes last night.

We already know that physical reality is no obstacle to other fanbases and the two digit IQ nepo-nephew nitwits at NYJFL HQ making cheating accusations against the Pats. You could have a camera on the hands each of the 11 Pats on the field showing nothing and the accusers would come back with "they clacked their teeth" or "clapped their butt cheeks."
Dangit turkey... I was gonna say the only thing clapping was the Falcons' butt cheeks but you beat me to it, in a way.

This is now a national story, but in reading a couple of dozen comments everyone says that atlanta is a sore loser, and Morris is looking for a scape goat There was no the pats are cheating again. So i don't think this is going anywhere.

This I don't get: in a stadium full of 68,000 people screaming on a crucial play, how can the SOUND of a freaking handclap be counted on for anything? Shouldn't the offense be on a silent count in that situation? Plus, you have defenders calling to each other, etc. or maybe one of the safeties clapped to get a teammate's attention. Seem like a nothing burger IMO.

I normally cringe at the tendency on this board to refer to teams by juvenile names (Jete, Ratbirds, etc) but I love “Micro Penix”. Hope that one doesn’t go away.

To be clear — the Falcons have the ball at the 48 yard line, and Hawkins is clapping at the 36 yard line. On a 3rd and 10 with 2 minutes to go in the game in New England. You’re asking me to believe that the center even heard Hawkins clapping from back there??? Gillette may not be Arrowhead, but it’s not a morgue either.
Try it out. Go to Logan. Have someone stand 50 feet away from you, while you're both standing on the tarmac.

If you can hear him clapping, it's possible.

(For the record, Penix was using a silent count in that spot...because the center wouldn't be able to hear HIM clapping from 15 feet away)
