NFL will fine players for attending event at Las Vegas casino

Just as the subject line reads, Patrick Chung and handful of other NFL players will be fined for their involvement in a promotional event at a casino.

A relative non issue but I bring it up because.........

1.) Well, it involves a Pats player...

2.) Stories like this are far more interesting now with the NFL officially committing to Vegas. (That would make the lines a little more blurred. It will be interesting to see how future situations are handled.)

Silly. They must have more important transgressions than this to deal with. Maybe somebody blew up a ball wrong or something.

He should have taken the job as food and beverage manager.

Goody never would have figured out what he was up to.

Clung will probably get suspension. Good old play by the rules nfl.

This is asinine.

Where the **** are teams going to stay in Vegas? Pretty much every single hotel has some casino element to it. You just moved a franchise there. The freaking airport even has slot machines.

It's clear nobody in the league has any shred of common sense.

I'm not hip with emoji's and stuff so I can't tell if this is meant in another way than a serious question, but yes, 'the players will supposedly be fined'.

I see you disliked the post. I'm not happy about the story either but don't shoot the messenger.

They haven't been fined yet. So how can you say fined?

1.) Where did I say they've already been fined? In each instance that I used the word 'fined' it was in the future state of 'will be fined'.

2.) Even if I had (which I didn't) I just find it odd that you'd split hairs over something like that.

I thought the NFL's intended handling in this matter was the true story, but I guess it was whether or not I said they were 'fined' or 'will be fined'.

He wasn't there.

very interesting

Faulty reporting implicating a Patriot of supposed wrong doing. Sound familiar?

Something is wrong with the world. The day has come where someone has to clear their good name from being involved in scandalous event such as an arm wrestling contest (sarcasm).

I don't think it's odd at all that I have gripe about this. There's enough disinformation or twisted information out there that I think it's important to have correct information. The title says "Chung (and others) fined..." You can change it with thread tools if you want.

Doesn't matter if Chung went or not. The clear hypocrisy of the descision to fine any players is massive on any scale, and typical of the current administration. Every football fan looks on this as another dumb decision by the league.

What I believe ACTUALLY happened is directly out of the Cosa Nostrra playbook. Whomever was running this event broke the cardinal rules. They didn't ask permission from the league and they didn't give them their "taste" either, so they got whacked in the parking lot.

And while the league won the hypocricy award, the mediots were a close second on the stupidity award for not checking and seeing if Chung actually was there before reporting that he was.

This is the core of the issue. To us fans, it just looks like more overbearing paternalism ("if you'd asked us, we would have told you that you aren't allowed to do that"). To the players, it just feels like one more demonstration of the plantation-mindset. But in reality, this is about the NFL insisting on taking a cut of anything and everything that uses its name and fame. You have an event that features NFL players? Pay to play. One way to enforce the action without having to go to court is through player control.

Goodell is just salty because transgressions in Vegas remind him of the time he lost his virginity as a catcher to some hulking male escort there a couple of years ago.

Yet Chung's name is out there. Everywhere.

The interwebz : a crazy place.

Ok, you got me. It said 'fined' in the thread title without the 'will be'. I'm still dumbfounded by how much this upset you especially given that the real story is the NFL's stance on this hypocrisy (whether they go through with the fine or not)....but whatever, to each their own
