Chiefs Playing Chargers Tough

The same could have been said about Marshall Faulk and the 2001 Rams. How'd that turn out?

I don't think that's even a fair comparison. Faulk had a total of like 12 TDs that year when LT is now at 28. LT is on pace for around 1900 yards. Faulk had 1200? 1300? All I am saying is, LT will be insanely hard to stop. It will take our A+ game to slow down LT if we get the date with them.

SD is the only team that I am afraid of, the rest I know Pats can and should handle nicely in the playoff.

I think that's a pretty fair comparison. Faulk is a future first ballot HOF and he and Tomlinson are pretty similar.

He also played for the pass crazy Martz, and the Rams had a better QB and WR. Part of the reason Tomlinson gets so many yards is because the rest of the offense just isn't that good outside of Gates. This year Tomlinson is averaging about five yards a carry, and in 2001 Faulk averaged about 5.3.

Regardless, Belichick realized that Faulk was the heart and soul of that offense, and stopping him was the key to stopping them in the Superbowl (you can read about it in Patriot Reign.) Outside of production, the two draw the comparison simply because of the fact that both of their offenses ran through them.

Watching the Chargers tonight and many times this year, the only way they know how to win, or choose to win, is through Tomlinson. It's hard to blame them. He's the best player on the planet. But I don't believe one player can carry a team to a title and that's precisely what the Chargers are counting on Tomlinson to do. Not in this day and age. And beyond that, Marty is just the type of snake bitten lout who leaves a player like Tomlinson in one too many plays in a meaningless week 17 blowout and he gets hurt.
