Patriots Player Departure Chase Winovich traded for Mack Wilson

Chase always seemed to be in Bill's doghouse, for whatever reason...
freelanced too many times for BB liking. Goes from the doghouse to the dog pound

Some people don't seem to understand that Wilson isn't coming to replace Winovich. Wilson is like an Elandon Roberts with much better sideline speed and coverage ability. Or, if you will, a hopeful Bobby Wagner.
We have Uche and Perkins to take the Wino role - who never really had the role because his eyes went white like a shark as soon as the ball was snapped and he could never see what was actually happening during the play.

Winovich was going nowhere fast in New England but this Mack Wilson hasn't exactly set the NFL on fire. This probably will amount to a nothing trade, basically two teams ridding themselves of players they had no use for. We can put Winovich in the bad draft pick column.

Bobby Wagner was an AP DRoY runner up and an all-pro by his third season. How about we just sign Bobby Wagner as opposed being "hopeful" about some no-name middling player?

I’m hopeful Wilson can at least keep the Tavais and Langis of the world off the field.

Based on stats alone, seems like he played much more than Wino ever did, so undoubtedly there were scouting on him
.
I wont miss Wino... If after 3 years you have shown 0 capacity to stay on the field, its just not a fit

Pretty much. If anything this trade could be a win for Wino to play more of his game at CLE.
Hopefully it turns out well for Wilson too.
Not to mention that this has a high probability of helping the Pats in the compensatory pick contest.

Wino should see way more playing time to add to JC Jackson starting fulltime.

That's probably why you're writting theory on this forum ...
As opposed to what, coaching for the New England Patriots? Everyone here wants to be a coach?

There are many teams in this league that have destroyed top QBs with light guys rushing the passer. How many examples do you want?

The Rams hurt Burrow, the Bengals hurt Stafford, the Bucs destroyed Mahomes.

Should these coaches give their Super Bowl trophies back because they used Shaq Barrett and Von Miller?

Look, Belichick may have no use for guys that can't set the edge, but it is undeniable that he is using most of his assets to draft pass rushers: Judon, Barmore, Uche, Jennings, Perkins, Winovich. It's no accident. How much more do you want him to spend on that particular aspect of the game? He's heavily into it. Uche and Winovich can't seem to hold the edge. They are the kind of players who may do extremely well for these other teams.

Belichick's not the only one in our division either doing it. Look at the Dolphins and the Bills. Hell, the Bills are spending one pick after another: Rousseau, Oliver, Epenesa, Edmunds, Basham, etc.

It's pretty obvious every team places a premium on QBs first, then pass rush.

Belichick is no different than any of them. This is why cornerback is simply not the priority that the DL is for Belichick.

Another bust draft pick at an area of need. Fortunately we got something for him...Oh well...

Traded players are not part of comp pick formula

I think Uche is here and will get more playing time this year to see what he can do. He looked really good during tc and early last year before he got hurt.
Aside from injury, it's likely his playing time went down was because he looks like a gnat getting swatted away when attempting to stop the run and he's an ineffective one move pass rusher. He's taking a very similar path to WInovich.

Jennings should be on notice too.

Uche is a beast and my binkie....lol, expect a big year from him!!!!!!!

He looked borderline unblockable in camp sessions and preseason, then something didn't translate to the regular season. Let's hope it was the injury, because whoever is opposite Judon should be able to feast with most of the attention going to the other side.

I get the deal. Wino was clearly in the doghouse. Bill has generally been a good evaluator of defensive talent to I'll trust him here
That's mighty big of ya!
