Charlie Batch will (hopefully) be our new backup QB

Getting him on the roster would be a waste of a spot, in my opinion, for at least 4-6 weeks. He doesn't solve the backup "problem" and you have to cut one of the backend players just to sign him, something I can't really justify considering how difficult it's appearing to look even with that extra one spot.
:yeahthat:what he said.....

he did ok against us

Are you talking about the game yesterday? I didn't watch. I hope you aren't being serious about that being an indicator of Carr's skillset. He is the worst QB in the league. It's not even close. He is afraid to make tight throws and holds the ball too long. He is beyond garbage and will be out of the league shortly.

Hmm...

On the one hand I'd have to say he's about average, so I don't think he'd be worth it. On the other hand, it would be nice to have someone with some amount of experience in the back-up spot.

Personally, though, I doubt BB would do it.

Obviously you didn't watch him play in Pitt when Big Ben was hurt. He fared quite well and is one of the league's better backups.

As far as a roster spot, obviously Cassel & Guitteriz would be gone in this scenario. The vet backup problem is solved in the longrun and in the short term you just hope the unspeakable doesn't happen.

No offense Tom, but Batch is NOT one of the better back-ups... He was good 3 years ago, but not last year or the year before. Chris Simms might be a good back-up for the Pats. Huard definitely would be. There aren't many others who are going to be free who I think could do a good job.

David Carr is the worst QB in the NFL. Did you see him play for Carolina last year? He is an embarrassment to the league. (And that's without even getting into his hair cut ...)

If you believe that then you've not watched a single game other than that one because I've seen plenty of other QBs who are worse than Carr.

Carolina's O-line wasn't exactly stellar last year. And they didn't have much in the way of receivers.

While Carr didn't help himself, he didn't have a lot of help either.

Can we seriously get less of these "grass is always greener" posts? PLLLLLLLLEASE

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Batch has been put on IR, so this thread pretty should now be burned.
