Ed: Tomlin Wanted to Sign Vick With Steelers

Maybe the Steelers OL didnt feel safe with a alleged rapist staring at their asses and asked Tomlin to find a replacement

Vick had completed 21 months in prison for pleading guilty to a federal felony charge of running an interstate dog fighting ring. The Falcons released him in June 2009, but Vick was ready to resume his football career. Tomlin was interested in having him join the Steelers.
Tomlin knew all about Vick’s talents. Both were born in Newport News, Va., and Tomlin coached twice annually against Vick when he was the secondary coach at Tampa Bay and the quarterback played for the division-rival Falcons. Plus, Vick was mentored by Tomlin’s former coach in Tampa Bay, Tony Dungy, during his time in prison and after his release.
Byron Leftwich, who played behind Roethlisberger in 2008, had signed with Tampa Bay as a free agent. The Steelers had Charlie Batch and Dennis Dixon as backups heading into the 2009 camp.

I don't think Vick would have stayed a backup to Big Ben and certainly does not have the talent to start over Ben. It would have been a 1 year thing at best. Vick went from doing time to earning a $100M contract over the past few years…I don't think Karma ever worked its magic if you believe in that sort of thing.

I thought Tomlin was one of the top coaches. This makes me question my opinion.

That's what I was thinking.. Thought it was to replace Ben,, guess I did read it wrong, lol.

Sounds like Tomlin wanted to help Vick out and give him a back up job thinking he might have a hard time getting a starting job with such a tainted history but Ben's story killed the idea.

If that's true it's a nice gesture.

Umm, this. Just a journalist trying to write an interesting story for their upcoming game.

A rapist and a dog killer on the same team. Maybe, just maybe people would've hated the steelers more than us. Who am i kidding?

Are you trying to say that raping somebody is worse than misplacing a cameraman? Pfffffffffffft [/idiot fan]
