Chandler Jones needs smaller pads.

I was just watching the Pats/ Saints Pre game tonite, and I saw a good hold on his pads. This would have prevented that. Prolly the very thing the OP saw that brought this up. I think its a great idea. Also, Osi's mask is a good idea as well. It looks like the openings are too small for fingers to fit in , and prevent having his neck snapped. We all know BB takes every "little" advantage. Why not the players too.

Jones should play in what he finds comfortable.

Bingo! We do not know if the new refs will end up calling phantom holds because "it looks like he got the shoulder pads" or if it'll be an advantage for O-linemen.

The only thing we can be sure of is if he is uncomfortable he will be at a disadvantage.

Never seen a pats player use the small pads. If your teaching them to tackle properly it's foolish to open the up to shoulder injury risk.

Mark Anderson and Andre Carter both wore smaller, more conformed shoulder pads last year. it seems like our two best pass rushers from last year might have caught on with the trend.

I doubt the smaller pads really make you mere susceptible to more injuries.

Tuck's face mask is going to cause someone to lose a finger, it's freaking ******ed and should be illegal as a health concern.

There are several spots big enough to stick a finger in there and instead of sliding out like on the normal mask they will simply wedge between two chunks of plastic.

All the more to do this then! That will make the players think twice about doing it.

Then perhaps opposing players would do well to keep their damned hands off of his face mask.

If you want to argue health concerns then I think the bigger risk lies with the potential neck injuries that come with being facemasked than the potential finger injuries for doing something they have no business doing in the first place.

The truth is that you just hate Tuck because he's owned us and need a reason to smacktalk him.

Smaller pads? Why doesn't he just use a Tampon? ...and what's with that name? Shouldn't they be called Tampins?

Thank you for telling me why I think it's a stupid face mask idea.

Oh wait, you didn't. I already stated why I think it's stupid.

Is it only a facemask penalty if you grab? Can you push off without grabbing? Seems like Tuck's mask would be great for doing that if it's legal.

Wouldn't that be an illegal hands to the face penalty? Or does that only apply to offensive players?

I'm for whatever gives the Pats players a fair advantage. Of course, someone in NY/NJ will cry about it to uncle Roger.
