Champ Bailey may be leaving Denver

All these reasons you've mentioned are helping my argument for why the team should be doing their due diligence on Bailey. With Bodden hurt, throw him out there across from McCourty and let Butler, Wilhite, Wheatley, and Arrington compete for the remaining jobs. Competition brings out the best in people. Bringing in Bailey would certainly help that.

Of course they should do their Due Diligence.

But their Due Diligince is going to involve finding out he wants 5 years and 55+M dollars, and they'll need to give up picks.

They should walk away from that.

Agree with your point, but I think there are exceptions ...like Leinhart ..unless that is his best.

Where are you getting those figures from?

Where are those numbers from? (honest question, only numbers I saw were 4yr deal or a 10m franchise tag)

10-12M per year is market rate for a top tier CB. He's going to want as many years as he can get.

You might get 4/44 or something like that, but its not going below about 11M/per.

The story in Denver is that they were working on a deal up until this week. The Broncos had sent Bailey an offer and were waiting to hear from him. While waiting, they decided to wait until the offseason.

I haven't heard anything about Bailey getting traded. What I have heard is that Bailey said he would not request one:

I’m not sayingthat we’re going to ask for a trade or anything. I love being here. So, Iwouldn’t do that.”

McDaniels has publicly stated that he wants Bailey back, too:

McDaniels said Friday that putting an extension on the back burner doesn’tmean the Broncos want to cut ties with Bailey.

“We’re not going to talk about the contract and all that stuff in general, but we want Champ Bailey to be here. We want him to finish his career here,”McDaniels said.

If someone's got a link to someone reliable saying that a trade is a serious possibility, I'd love to read that article.

Wilhite has developed plenty, and he is what he is: a not-very-good corner. I hope that that wouldn't be the reason for not bringing Bailey in. Cost, I assume, is the reason.

Bailey can still cover wrs like he was 25.

They are waiting to resume the talks once the season is over..but it doesn't look too promising. On the other hand I can't imagine Denver letting Bailey walk though unless his demands are ridiculous.

You mean, just like Asante Samuel was 2 years in?

honestly i would rather stick with the young guys and let them develop. They will never develop if we bring in veterans from the outside. I would rather stick with them and take our lumps.

Yeah i wish.

Unless Price is ready, and he's been an inactive to this point, the team only has one outside WR of note. Welker and Edelman are slot guys, and Slater is a poor man's Aiken. Bringing in another wideout isn't likely to prevent any real development.

Vikings using Moss as a stop gap at their WR core, then we could use Bailey as one on our CB core. Think about extension later and win now. ship a 3rd rounder to denver and call it a nite

Bailey is 32, and is going to be looking for something like 5 years, 55M.

If you sign him, what the heck do you do with McCourty, Butler, Wheatley and Wilhite?

These guys need time to develope.

:lol2:

what?

just talking on the Defensive side of the ball. I am all for a veteran WR. I would put veteran WR as #1 WR, and Tate as #2 WR, and WW as the slot.

Got it. My apologies for the misunderstanding.

Maybe Josh can give us a sweetheart deal. Bailey would instantaneously be an improvement over anything we have back there right now.

Oh man, Moss for Bailey. THAT would have been something.

What a selfish, self-absorved malcontent! WTF is he doing thinking about his future during the season.

Yeah, its funny that people want us to trade for a player who is doing the same thing Randy did... :lol2: That makes sense.

We are NOT picking up Bailey, we are getting YOUNGER not older. We still have Bodden who is aging by the minute that we JUST signed to a long contract. Signing Bailey would put us even further back. McCourty has looked GREAT so far, Butler has looked fair considering the circumstances, and with he return of Bodden next year, there would be NO point on signing Champ Bailey to the team, if were so called "Looking towards the future".

EXACTLY! Thank you. lol
