Celtics 2025-2026 Discussion

If that happens they are 100% lottery bound
100 percent. The reports they are looking to add Dame means they are out on '26..hitting the lottery, higher the better and then rocking it in '27. Thats my guess. Brad isn't stupid, he knows nothing is happening this year at all. Brown has won a title so it's not like they need to learn how to win. Nope this is a **** it year and try to hit the top of the draft next year. Team is always a day late and a dollar short though. Flagg was in this draft.

I honestly don't think it works that way. These guys are pros getting paid a ****-ton of money to play their best. I don't know that they have the talent to make it far this year, but I can't see any of them simply laying down for a full year. Some guys, like Simons for instance, are in their contract year. Hauser is hitting his first big payday year. Pritchard is coming off a successful year, winning 6th player and getting a boost over $7 Million. These guys have something to prove. They could care less about next year because there's always a chance that they won't be here next year if they don't win this year.

Hauser shouldn't be here. Simons is gonna get flipped. White might be gone for tax savings. Nah, this team is hitting rock bottom next year but with a really bright future.

Totally agree that the guys on the court will play hard, it’s more about who’s going to be out there

Hauser is a scorer. They need to replace Tatum's 26.8 points each game. That's not going to come from Brown & White & I agree that Simons is gone, so it's not going to be him. Where are those points going to come from? I'm guessing it's Hauser & Pritchard, two players who have they have "cheap".

Wich is why I think we should at least hold on to Simons at least for now.. we traded for him may as well keep him.. he could thrive here.. everyone is trying to get out of Portland.. ayton we should be in on.. love the minnot signing too!

Loooove the minnot pick up.. Young talented guy with huge potential in the NBA the fact he was playing some good minute in the playoffs was telling.
Great pickup

I almost think they have to use Simons to get a vet big in Boston's lineup. At least I hope that's what they do. I don't want to lose White or Brown to get one.

As for the East being weak... the season just started. **** is going to change everywhere, not just in Boston. Someone's going to have to play in finals for the East. Weak or not, some team will be there.

I think your right on needing him to het a big.. however.. if.. just if.. they got ayton that solves that. Quata is going to have to develop into a player who can stay on the court.. I heard yesterday al may also he signing elsewhere. This is the reality that we all knew would be here. Tatum situation definitely complicates things some. I'm thinking a potential line up of Simon's, white, brown, ayton and minnot isn't all that bad. The Cs had literally last two seasons to add a big.. Jacob poertlhl the big man who was in Toronto for example.. Jared Allen also I hear is available for trade.

If that happens they are 100% lottery bound
Or close to it which would be worse.
If White is traded then you can bet JB is not playing anywhere close to 82 games. His knee will be given a lot of games off and his minutes will be limited as well. I know he wants to prove to the league that he's a first team NBA-type player but the organization may have other ideas.

Edit: I also think Brad will try to move Simons before he considers trading DW. DW has a lot more value, even if he doesn't carry an expiring contract.

Ayton signed with the Lakers already. He's not coming here.

Minott has some good athleticism but he's not good enough to play 15+ minutes per game. I know he was a top recruit but he didn't developed as hoped. He's still young but this is just flyer signing.

This is what we're missing out on

Horford is choosing between the Lakers and the Warriors. If he goes to the Fakers, he can go f himself.

Last player to play for the Celtics and then Lakers was Rondo.

I usually don’t get too worked up about that stuff but I kind of agree. Considering his career earnings and what he would have on the table from the Celtics and Warriors and other teams, it’s gonna be a minuscule difference in the grand scheme of things financially. The Celtics were the team he got his ring with, it would be a bad look

Bumping this to skip over the old ‘24-‘25 season thread.
Thanks for the heads up @bresna

Edit: there’s a useful last page or two in the old thread that should be in here so if someone thinks their post is missing, it isn’t.

At present they are $4.5m below the cap but $15m over the luxury tax and face repeater penalties if they don't move a big salary. I would need to look but I don't think moving just Hauser is enough.

I think Brad is moving White.
