Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

I was hoping Scheierman would step up last night in Pritchard's absence, but he didn't do much (7/2/2 in 19 minutes). We'll see what happens in Memphis Monday.

Speaking of Memphis... what a ****show they have going on there. First, they're accused of rushing Ja Morant back too soon. Then they fire their coach with 9 games left in a season where they're currently sitting as the 5th seed because they lost in OKC, the best team in the West? That's weird.

After watching the Pistons play the Celtics this year, I'm not really surprised that this happened: Pistons-Timberwolves melee featuring Donte DiVincenzo, Naz Reid, Ron Holland spills into stands, results in 7 ejections

I love how the comments have people saying that the foul was not that bad, so why get into a fight over it. They fail to realize how the Pistons play. How many hard fouls were there before this one? I guess the NBA wants these hard fouls because they don't appear willing to stop them.

I haven't checked in much this season. I take they're back to the Chuck Daly era Pistons - if you can't out-play them, cripple them?

I gotta check that out
Yes you do. I don't know why but I didn't even know about it until @RobertWeathers mentioned it here. Thanks btw RW.

And now a question for anyone. What's going on with Brown? He looks lost out there at times lately. Could that be injury related?

It was interesting seeing a C's team of all whites out there, with Kornet, Porzingis, Hauser, Schiermann and White.

Cavs looking like playing 70 consecutive times with G7 energy has taken a toll. Not surprising. I’ve watched some of their most recent games. They’re playing their best guys…they just look tired.
I've noticed the same thing.

Tortoise > Hare

Brown's knee is clearly bothering him. In the San Antonio game, he went down after contact and looked to be favoring it. I'd almost say that he should be put on the shelf for a few games but this close to the playoffs... not a good idea unless he's close to sitting out the playoffs.

I hope it's not one of those "wait until the season is over to get surgery" injuries. Sometimes players in that scenario do more damage by continuing to play on it. Robert Williams III is one of the more recent players that comes to mind.

You are welcome. E5 drops today. Focus will be on 1984- 1989.

He said his knee is not fully healed. I think he's picking his spots. He is questionable for tonight.

I'm really liking how Schiermann has been producing. Last 7 games hes getting 18min, .500 from 3 on 30 shots and ave 7ppg. Not sure he'll see playoff minutes but this bodes well if Brown needs rest and if Hauser is moved in the offseason.

He has a right knee posterior impingement. Most severe case is a minor scope but most are treated with PT, anti-inflams and rest.

Time Lords knee was f-ed when he was drafted and got worse with the minacious tear. Plus his knee is degenerative

Celtics City E5...

Never knew there was a bit of a riff between Parish and Bird during the '85 season. I knew Larry kept his teammates at a distance but not supporting him during his contract year was interesting and how Parish hung back when Larry was getting pounded by Dr J and the Sixers during the fight.

Episode ends w/ Len Bias. All downhill from here until 22 years later.

Didn't catch much of the game yesterday..but saw a few highlights or lowlights... kind of an expected loss.. Cs are 0-5 on home games after a road trip.

Nothing really to take out of it.. Joe is managing guys health and playoffs this month.

Yea I do agree with you that their home record should/could be better but no Al, KP, and JT coasting wasn't happening last night

I agree with you. I knew from the final score that it was pretty much about health and just getting the game over with... I want them as healthy and rested as possible for the run.. it's going to be very tough to repeat.. magic.. cavs.. are 2 teams that are tough match ups. Health is key for us.

I would have no problem if the Celts rested Brown for the rest of the regular season. To see him favoring his bum knee late in the game was enough to make me think he should sit for a bit. It's not like they can change their playoff seeding at this point.

During last night's telecast, they did a story that Jaylen Brown has to play 20 minutes in 3 of the last 4 games of the season to be eligible for NBA awards. He's also claiming that rest won't help his knee. If rest won't help, it would seem that his knee problem is something that will require something surgical in the off season.

Agree. JB should rest the knee but from my understanding he needs months of rest and rehab. Unknown if he requires surgery.

The first two episodes were so good that I've been waiting on watching the others. I think I'll catch a couple more after I leave here.

I didn't like hearing Bill Russell say that he wasn't playing for Boston, he was playing for the Celtics.

The team looks great right now with one problem: Brown's knee. I don't know why he is playing right now.

Doesn't seem like it will get any better by rest.
C's are gonna have to get it done with a mediocre JB playing reduced minutes in the playoffs.
They have enough talent to win it all even in that situation but it won't be easy.
JT and KP both playing out of their minds.
DW and JH playing well and those 2 are the keys to winning it all. If our starting guards are playing their best we have a great shot. The depth is also better this year. Kornet has become a reliable beast, Al is just as good as he was last year, PP is better, Scheirmann contributes, Queta is better, Craig is a big upgrade off the bench.
JB's explosive one on one ability when the offense sometimes gets stale will be missed but if everyone else is clicking, C's will be fine.
They'll need to since obviously the comp is much tougher this year.

I agree that Brown's knee could be a problem. He looked like he had trouble going to the hoop last night.

But what was with the crappy refs again last night? I get that they called a lot of fouls on the Knicks, but that's because they were hacking the Celts every time they took a shot. It wouldn't be bad if they called them like that on both ends but the Knicks got a lot iffy calls on their drives. I mean that uncalled take foul in OT was ridiculous. Kornet is way ahead of anyone and goes to the hoop, is grabbed and the refs call side out. WTF?

For those too young to have experienced the joy of listening to Johnny Most calling a Celtics game, versus Dirty-troit, here is a minute and a half of typical Most rant...
