Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

I’m kind of a minimalist so I’m biased, but I’ve always thought Celtics white uniforms are the best in all four major sports. Just a classic look, nothing extraneous, and nice looking colors. I hate when they have home games and wear the black jerseys or green jerseys, or even worse, those stupid cursive city edition ones. Anyone else agree / disagree?
Yeah, the whites are the best. Clean Classy. I like the green ones too but the whites are better

JB is the alpha of the team and clearly was in the Finals. JT is not under appreciated nor the best player in the world, but that’s alright. He’s a hell of a player.

How about he just F’ing goes out there and gets it done in the big spots. No flopping like a ****y at soft contact at the rim and having ****ty handles in traffic. Would like to see less of that.

This team will indeed need all the help and health they can to get to win the finals, let alone win it.
JB the alpha? Lol. Come on man.
Tatum is a MUCH better player than Brown. Not even close.
Tatum is the 2nd best player in the world after Jokic. He's better than Giannis or SGA.
I love Jaylen Brown on and off the court.
He's a great player and a very thoughtful young man.
But he's not a Top 10 player in the NBA.
Somewhere in the 10-20 range. That still makes him a superstar.
But c'mon man, let's keep it real.

Agree about this. Brown does provide a level of athleticism that no one else does, but it doesn’t translate to the same all around game as Tatum. At times, Brown can reach that peak level where he’s a good as anyone, but his normal level isn’t there.

If we’re going by who is their alpha in crunch time, in terms of attitude, composure, and the killer instinct to win, #9 is the team’s true alpha.

One thing I love about both Tatum and Brown is how hard they worked to improve different areas of their games.
There's no question both are better all-around players now than even a year ago.

Being the best player is not the same as being the alpha—nor does it address the crunch time of the Finals, which Brown was awarded for as being superior.

Wasting my time replying if you truly think Tatum is definitively the 2nd best player in the world and can’t take off the homer glasses, so won’t waste my time here.

Either way, we’re on the same side…bottom line, Go Celtics!

I think he’s 2nd also. Here’s why: he may not be the second best player right now, at this very moment, though we’re kind of splitting hairs. Maybe SGA is a little better overall…SGA is a great scorer. Maybe Giannis is a little better. I wouldn’t argue.

But…how do we know SGA isn’t somewhat a product of a stacked team that gives him tons of spacing? Could he carry a team? What if he had different teammates and didn’t have multiple all stars around him? Would he still be an MVP candidate? Most of that is theoretical.

Tatum has proven throughout his career, with different casts of players and different roles, he’s going to be in the top 5 list of players no matter what. Can that be said of SGA? No. Just last year, Luka and Edwards were all the talk of the league. This year neither is in the discussion of MVP caliber players. Tatum is, and always has been.

Giannis has kind of earned this benefit of doubt similar to Tatum. The difference is Giannis simply isn’t driving the same team success as Tatum, and while Tatum has always maximized team efficiency with other teammates (Kyrie, IT, Smart), Giannis hasn’t.

Just finished watching the cav/magic.. that series is going to be good.. the magic I tell people now that they are getting healthy they are an 8th seed no one wants to see.. banchero and Wagner made Cleveland struggle in the paint.

Fully healthy, the Magic are tough.
I love both Banchero and Wagner's games.
They're young, we'll be seeing them in the Finals in the near future( not this year)
I like the Cavs 2 bigs but the Magic's 2 bigs will be head and shoulders better very soon.

The teams I want to avoid, besides obviously the Cavs, are the Magic and Pistons. I think those teams will give us more problems than the Knicks or Bucks.

Agreed. Our path isn't going to be easy to repeat.. I'd like if Tatum had more veteran rest days the rest of the season.. but yeah magic we struggle against them.. banchero and Wagner are big, long, athletes that give us match up problems. We are an older veteran team.

Agreed!! as mentioned to @jimnance we are an older veteran team.. magic, cavs, pistons are all young guns with endless energy. We need the path of the least resistance... I'm concerned about our play at home though.

That was a good game for the Cs. Get some of these guys more involved so they can carve out a role for the playoffs.

Baylor. Scheirman.
Yup, great to see him taking advantage of those minutes. I expect to see plenty more as the season winds down. He looks good!

His confidence reminds me of Pritchard. He’s not afraid to fire away or make a drive. The hustle plays too.

Not so long ago, the ideal formula was finding 3 star players who would mesh with each other, depth be damned. With the disasters in Philadelphia and Phoenix this season, and the new salary cap restrictions, I doubt we’ll see teams trying to do this again for a long time. The mid 2010 Cavs were the last team that accomplished anything without building a solid team with depth and various roles among its players.

Was rooting for Pagliuca but my 2nd choice got the nod.
Chisholm was born and raised in the Boston area and is a lifelong C's fan plus his group includes one current Celtics owner.
It had to be Chisolm or Pagluica, who are actual Celtics fans. A relief none of the outsiders won. That is almost never a good thing for any pro sports franchise.
And,of course, Wyc stays in charge as CEO til 2028.
So it looks like we're in good hands

Tatum's injury last night was mostly the fault of the referees. They let that game get out of control when the Kings made it clear they were going to play very physical. When a team gets away with hard hit after hard it with no foul called, the team gets more aggressive. Sabonis, who took Tatum out, was one of the most aggressive players out there, getting away with several elbows earlier without any fouls called.

I'm also curious if Pritchard's oblique muscle is OK. He appeared to pull it in the Trailblazers game when he went up for a layup while getting held down by his shoulder. He was grabbing it after that play and again in the Kings game last night. That is one of the main muscles for jumping, so hopefully it's not too bad.

Agree. I think Pritch will be OK. Might need a night off and a reduction in minutes.

Looks like JT got lucky as it's only a sprain. F-ing Sabonis pulled a Laimbeer slip foot move.

I'm concerned about Jaylen. Hope that knee feels better.

Agreed. We probably don't see Tatum the rest of the season.. playoffs start when in April??

I'm thinking JT is shut down the rest of the way.. with the playoff starting in what a few weeks in April??
