Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Yeah it seems we got a couple guys who fit that description.
I hope they both calm down. They otherwise seem like good people so we don't need any posters ending up in the ER with heart attacks or strokes
I get how passionate fans can see danger all around. It's certainly out there.

I just prefer to have the attitude that we are the baddest mo-fos on the planet. We've proven it and no one else has.

Until that time, the 2025 NBA title goes through us. It's ours.

We’re one of the best teams. With the experience and leadership, maybe the best. But this is professional sports, salary cap era, and even it there weren’t parity, so many of the great teams fail. Point being, we’re not going to win or lose a championship in March.

We don’t even know what will happen in the playoffs. Last year, the playoff opponents were very different from what we anticipated. Two years ago, the Bucks spent the whole season earning the 1 seed only to get bounced in round 1 while the Heat were a bubble playoff team and made the Finals. So, analyzing one game in March doesn’t give much predictive value about the team’s “mentality” etc. Each game can tell a dramatically different story about the team if you look at it that way.

The optimistic take is that Porzingis is being injury paced, Holiday will up his energy level in the postseason, and when teams start going full throttle, the supremacy of the 2023-24 Celtics team will return, given it’s basically all the same players. And I think the truth will be pretty close to that.

You guys can continue to watch this team lose games they should win and expect them to get another cakewalk in the playoffs like last year, when they got lucky in every round. The Heat minus Butler/Cavs minus Mitchell/Pacers minus Haliburton/Mavs... well, the Mavs.

I hope they have the same luck this year. Until then, I'll just keep my doom & gloom opinions to myself.

Keep in mind we went without KP for most of the playoffs so while we were fortunate the other team was missing a top player, it's not like we were at full strength either.

Look- I think everyone who knows this team and the NBA expects the road to the Finals to be a different one. While the Knicks and Bucks are good matchups for us, CLE is a monster. ORL has given us problems and should be a tough out but are 7-15 since Banchero returned. They are a sucky shooting team. Very beatable this year.

The West is the West.

The only team in the east that concerns me is Cleveland. They are the only real threat in the east. West... different ball park.. we had OKC down double digits when we played them and gave that game away as they were without chet holmgren. I'm going to chop the upcoming game up as a scheduled loss. Not being pessimistic it's just some teams we don't Match up well against. I would like to give Detroit a humble beat down though when we play them again!

I think Indy can give us problems but we are the superior defensive team. NY, DET, MIL, MIA..we own.

Yea CLE.....no question they are a handful.

Yes, I agree. It was not the hardest playoffs gauntlet last year.

The Celts did it without Porzo and went 16 - 3. If the Celts had struggled in the playoffs and barely won the 2024 Championship, I would agree further. But the Celts dominated the playoffs. If the competition is tougher this year, the Celts might lose more games before winning the Championship, but if the Celts go 16 - 10 this year, that is OK with me

We are! Definitely what happened to NY?? They were better with Randle... DET is playing with alot of confidence under a good HC. I'd love to humble them!

Knicks are soft.

JB Bickerstaff is a quality coach.
Agreed. What do you think we do with Jrue next season?trade him? Love everything he stands for.. but injuries piling up and he doesn't really look for his shot often.

I dunno. I'm certain he has a partially torn rotator cuff. Now the mallett finger is a even bigger issue. I've had that. Painful. Can't even shoot the ball hurts so bad. Makes dribbling a chore. it'll take a month or two for the pain to go away but mobility is limited. That may/may not need surgery along with the shoulder in the offseason.

I love him as a player but might not be trade-able until teams know he is 100% healthy for 2026.

I see.. we've all jammed our fingers before and it sucks so I can only imagine. The shoulders a more pressing issu especially for a 34 year old player.

They just need the finger to be pain free and the shoulder to continue to respond to rehab.

For the playoffs, his offense is a nice to have. His defense is a MUST have vs CLE.

C's are gonna need all hands on deck for both Cavs and OKC.
So give KP,Jrue et al all the rest and rehab they need. We're pretty much locked in at the 2 seed so losing a couple games is not as important as getting healthy.
But they do need to just play well and play hard to get in playoff mode.
If the C's win it again, I think both ECF and Finals are 7 games.

Yes he's an excellent defender and always has been... I'd like to see more of tory Craig going forward I love his defensive tenacity. We will likely have a 7 man rotation in the playoffs.

Yeah... Craig I can see when guys get hot Joe putting him to slow down shooters. I always liked him going back to his time in Phoenix where he played a big role for them that run. I just want our top guys as healthy as possible heading into the next month.
