Celtics 2024-2025 Discussion

Sure they will.
I wish I had your optimism RW, this feels like the 2009 celtics IMO.. they are mediocre at home.. the garden should be a place that teams fear playing.. once you have a history of loosing on your home floor it gives teams confidence. Cleveland has no weaknesses.. they probably have the best bench in the NBA is why I even posted that Brad should have at least added bench depth. It's Pritchard and hauser beyond that we have minimal bench production. The move Cleveland made for hunter was awesome they gave up literally nothing to get him. They have a kings ransom of shooters off the bench.

You were like this last year. Afraid of every team...

2009 Celtics lost KG and were 41-12 before he got hurt.

KP and Jru didn't play last night.

Only thing stopping this team is their complacency and disinterest in games.

CLE has a major weakness....they haven't won a championship and do not have a front court scorer.

I'm not afraid of anyone I'm calling it like I see it. Did the Celtics win in 2009 ? Talent is what wins in the NBA. I'm in no way discounting the Celtics but let's not act like they don't have guys with durability concerns. They are a mediocre home team this season for defending champions.. go look up the warriors home records during their run, the 2000s Lakers, 90s bulls. Cleveland looks like a team on a mission and we will have to beat them in a game 7 in the playoffs.

Sorry but you are a bit of a chix little w/ the C's.

Exactly. They lost KG for the season and barely got out of the 1st round. With KG they had the best record in the league.

I couldn't care less what their home record is during the regular season.

Why wouldn't you care what thier home record is? Do they play all road games in post season ?Who's to say KP will last the play offs? Cmon RW let's be real about our team they have flaws too. Other teams are good too not just us.

Because I don't. They kick ass on the road. They are clearly in maintenance mode/cruise control.

They are the defending world champions. They've proven enough to me to believe it's irrelevant.

Mazz is clearly pacing the team. Spot rest for Jru, KP, Al..They players know this and the team is also pacing itself. They went on cruise control after they went up 25-3. You could see it.

They were down two starters and lost to a 48-10 team, splitting the season series (missing starters in both losses.)

Let’s calm down here. They lost because it was a pretty even game, which results in a loss about as many times as win. Two evenly matched teams, close point spread. If they’d squeaked it out, would you be panicking right now? Because the game was very close, as expected.

The only concerns the Celtics should have right now:

-Porzingis’s availability
-Holiday’s fall off in play
-Cleveland and OKC are having historically great seasons. Both are as good, or maybe even a little better, than last year’s Celtics. This wasn’t expected, but it’s out of their control.

I’d still take Cs against Cleveland in the playoffs, but it would be crazy to think they’ll just walk in and outclass a team likely to win like 67 games.

Vegas still favors Cs over Cavs to win east.

I never ***** about fouls cuz they usually even out. But the refereeing vs. the C's in the 2nd half was pretty bad.
Cavs were at full strength, C's down 2 starters so I'm not surprised at the result.
I was more surprised by the blitz Boston put on em in the 1st qtr.
Both teams at full strength, Celtics are better team but a series likely goes 7 games. The Hunter pickup really helped Cleveland.
I wasn’t going to say it because I thought it was just homer perception, but also felt like Cleveland got 100% of the 50/50 calls in the second half.

While I think the Celtics, generally, can win without Porzingis, I don’t think they can beat Cleveland without him. Allen and Mobley against Kornet and Queta is such a mismatch. Tillman sucking is really hurting them too. He was a guy who could at least pester on defense and bang around in the paint.

Cleveland is really sprinting…we’ll see how they’re playing in a few months. Their energy is kind of over the top, acting like every game is G7.

Big Al played 38 minutes. Most on the season. Love some Al, but let’s hope KP can be back healthy and available. Of course such an added dimension to an already good team. Feel really good if health and availability is good with this team come playoffs. It’s the long game.

Cleveland is a great freaking team, no doubt about it. Wouldn’t make one finite take one way or another on 1 sample of 82. Good team vs. good team, one has to lose.

Bingo! As I pointed out to @RobertWeathers who's seemingly not recognized that the cavs became an even better team at the trade deadline. I'm in no way discounting our team. What I'm simply doing is looking the issues that we have as a team. If we don't have KP for any length of extended time in the post season we won't come out the east.. holidays fell off.. not a knock on him he's a 2x champion and been a heck of a player. Hes what 34? We are lack luster at home all seasons as last season we were dam near unbeatable at the garden.. I been a fan of my team since I was a kid In 86.. I'm simply recognizing what we need to be concerned with. We aren't going to steam roll teams this post season. I too like our chances, but it won't be easy.

Question? Of the next 5 home games how many would you say your confident we will win?

Your post discounted the team. One can express concerns about every team if we want to. You chose to do it to the Celtics who are defending champs on a regular basis

Where did I say haven't recognized the Cavs' upgrades? I haven't said anything either way. Why call me out? Trying to come off as more knowledgeable than me on the board? Really??

Good attitude to have but remains to be seen how they would perform in a real G7 vs us. They aren't battle tested.

I'm not calling you out RW, I think you're getting what I'm trying to say confused. I always agree with you typically you know that! and just mentioned you as we are having a conversation just a exchange of opinions brother. I wouldn't come for you. I actually respect you as a poster. It's all good!

The thing that bothers me the most about this Cavs loss is that Donovan Mitchell took the game over in the 4th quarter, like true superstars do. If he can stay healthy this year, the Celtics have a much tougher path to the finals than last year, when Mitchell was playing on a bum knee and sat out the last two losses.

Mitchell is the difference for the Cavs this year, not the other players nor their bench. If Mitchell stays healthy through the playoffs this year, the Cavs are going to be tough to beat.

When the cavs go to thier Bench they have a kings ransom of guys. Adding hunter is just unfair lol... Merrill and the other guys name escapes me. It will take our guys remaining healthy the duration of the playoffs this season. The Celtics knows repeating won't be easy JT says it all season teams are coming for them. What stands out to me is the cavs size they take away the paint and force you to the perimeter.

Derrick White saves their ass. Again.
The legend grows
Yes JB missed buckets late, JT had an off shooting day.. down two starters.. but they pulled through with championship grit.
