Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

They won't. It's a popularity contest like most allstar voting in team sports.
They'll vote for big names even tho they may be well past their prime and not deserving.
Lebron,yes,he's having an allstar season.
Harden no.
And Lillard no. He's playing well now but for a good part of tge season he wasn't.
Trae Young hell no- play some defense, son
Lillard’s defense is flaming garbage

Completely true. Do you think that motivates Holiday?
Probably. Overall I think they’re close for net value but Lillard’s contract makes it a no brainer.

Reminder: Celtics are also getting Warriors first round pick as part of 3 way Porzingis trade

I looked it up. We had the Warriors 1st round 2024 pick but traded it for Holiday along with Brogdan and RWIII.

Stand corrected but point remains they received KP and a 1st round pick for Smart.

Understood. We gave up Brogdan, RWIII, and the Warriors' 1st round pick for 33 year old Holiday. I would do it again but that is not a steal although RWIII is damaged goods.

So Lillard was traded for RWIII, Brogdan, Ayton, Warriors 1st round 2024 pick and Bucks 1st round 2028, 2029, and 2030 picks. Quite a haul. In 2023 the Trailblazers are 8 - 23, so it has to be a long term plan.

Not posting this because it's about Brown, but because I think it's too common with a lot of guys. I feel like sometimes Tatum thinks about this stuff too much too. Just focus on the banner guys:

“I’m gonna start having to run my own campaign for first team all-defense,” Brown said after a recent win against Orlando, “but it’s cool. I’m really locked in on both sides of the ball, but where I’m really feeling comfortable and I feel like I’m excelling, making plays at the rim, taking the ball from people. And I’m doing my job and more on the defensive side, whether people want to pay attention to it or not.”

Well now it’s about Brown

He thinks defense is based on directly guarding a guy with the ball and getting steals. He’s pretty good at both due to his athleticism. I rarely see him clog lanes, play helpside, run hard through screens, grab loose balls, or box out. That he’s “lobbying” for his own personal accolade just goes more into his mentality as a selfish “what’s in it for me” mentality.

Last game he had a fast break and Holiday was running a few paces ahead of him but he kept himself rather than a higher percentage bounce pass layup. That’s who Jaylen Brown is.

First team all defense? What a jackass. A guy who tanks the team’s defense when he’s on the court - and easily their worst starter - is one of the five best defenders in basketball huh?

No one better say anything ****y because Twitter has been laughing about the Celtics losing this game for two weeks.

NBA All Star Game should also stop with front-court / backcourt designations. Jaylen Brown is not a front-court player and not even sure Jayson Tatum is either. League has largely gone position-less (besides true point guards and true centers) since guys like Nowitzki and Durant changed the formula. Just pick the best players.
