Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

What's your point?
Yes,Tatum is by far the best Celtics player
and easily top 5 nba. He's in the convo for #1.
What's that got to do with Brown?
In the Brooklyn game, Brown spent much more time on the floor with bench players than Tatum or any other starter.
That blows your whole ×/- out the water.
+/- is a highly questionable"stat" anyway.
You also totally ignore Browns role.
He's not a pg like Jrue and White nor a point forward like Tatum so he's never going to wrack up assists on their level.
His main negative issue is and has been turnovers. He needs to continue to cut this down.
Haters gonna hate

Brown isn’t even mentioned in the tweet. The tweet is about Tatum. Calm down.

If they finish with the NBAs best record he'll win MVP.
He just keeps getting better and better every year.
Like the great ones, always working on different ways to improve. Never satisfied.
To think back to when he was drafted, he was afraid to come to Boston because he didn't think he'd play much lol

My only beef with JT is how he was tracking the number of points he had during a G7 when it was still very much in doubt. That rubs me the wrong way. Hopefully he understands why that is a bad look.

Rw- were you old enough to have the pleasure of watching the Cowens era?
If not, you woulda loved Cowens. He was the most hard-nosed of all the Celtic greats. Played with incredible fire and intensity. A very, cool, unique individual.
6'8" center who held his own and dominated against many of the greatest centers of alltime while giving up 4"-6" most nights.
Those were very underrated NBA Championship teams.
Silas was also one of the toughest guys in nba history,in a quiet way. A rebounding machine.
Jojo White and Charlie Scott great 2way backcourt. Both brilliant on offense and defense.
And of course, the legendary Hondo was the superstar. Maybe the humblest superstar ever. All those guys were about team and they outhustled and out- quicked everyone they played.
Kind of a far cry from most nba players today.

Not at your level. Little before my time...

My Celtics fandom goes to 1979 the year before Larry Legend but do recall Cowens a bit. My dad was a hoop nut I so remember watching games on TV.

Celtics with a clinic on how to close out a game tonight. Very impressive.
Knicks are tough.

You got to experience the entire Larry Legend Era. Probably the most fun I've had watching hoops. Russell Era was awesome, Cowens Era very cool, Truth,KG et al good times. But Bird Era was the most fun. Larry the main reason but also because the nba was at its best in the 80's and early 90's. And there more dominant teams more great players then than now. Lakers, Sixers,Pistons,Bulls etc.

I think the Knicks brought their B+ game tonight and the game still wasn’t competitive. Randle is the type of player (like Bam) who the Celtics struggle with. That big bodied type who plays like a power forward. They did slow him down in the second half.

That was Brown’s best game of the season. Shooting wasn’t great but he had 6 assists and worked in the flow of the offense more, was quick and decisive with his passing. When he’s playing like that, he can cure a lot of his problems. He’ll get his shots and doesn’t need to force them. His +/- was second best on the team tonight.

Yeah I think this might be their most impressive game this year, considering the tough opponent plus a close,hard- fought game. C's just reached into their bag and went into another gear. No panic, just play your game and overpower them.

Milwaukee has -2.5 point differential so far, which is shocking, even if it’s only 10 games in. That’s down 6.00 ppg from 2022-23. I have to believe the Lillard-Holiday swap is a major factor.

I watched the 76ers last night. Granted they didn’t bring their A game (as we saw against the Celtics) but I think they’ll come back to earth and aren’t as good as they’ve appeared thus far. They’re reliant on Embiid and Maxey playing as unsustainable levels that are far above their career averages. If the Celtics pass the ball and are patient tonight, they should win this game fairly comfortably. The problem is they panic and both JT abd JB start trying to dribble too much. Hopefully they’ve learned from the last game that this isn’t last year’s Celtics and they can rely on their other playmakers.

Possible KP might not play. C's have 4 games in 6 days and might want to use caution even if it's just a contusion.
I think Mazzula is going to have to do this a lot this year with all the starters. Hauser and BIg Al only reliable bench players and Big Al obviously needs his pt managed as well.
Pritchard has shown signs of improvement and Kornet has had a few moments but they need more consistency from all these guys.
Still think they need a stretch big off the bench. No idea who might be available.

From what I can tell:

Embiid - Probably out (spread moved to BOS -5.5)

Brown - Probably out (missed shootaround)

Porzingis - Seems like a maybe/maybe not decision to do with maintenance. Embiid out might make it more likely he sits

Hadn't heard Embiid might be out. That's huge if he is.
