Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

I wish there was a way to get Time Lord back on the team. It’s a long season and I he would be great to add to our center mix.

Would br awesome to have as a role player. Krystaps Porzingis has sort have spoiled my appreciation for him though because he is so much better overall and arguably a better defender too. You can see that KP has finally found the perfect environment in Boston.

I loved Timelord but Porzi is so much more well rounded. Better offensively, better passer, and better instincts. I am surprised because I never saw Porzi as that good. After his Knicks experience, I guess I wrote him off without reason.

After a great career start in NY, he got in some legal trouble (rape accusation), has had injury problems (no surprise at his height), didn’t fit in that well in Dallas (reference my other post about building around Luka), then bounced back in Washington (might as well been a Euro league stint they’re so irrelevant.)

Tatum, White, and Holliday all are on the same page that offensively, when Porzingis is in the game, the offense should be coordinated around the mismatch his presence creates. This is again in big contrast to a ball control star like Luka who creates everything single handedly and Porzingis goes into a compartment on the offense (and why I get so concerned about Brown.)

As you pointed out though, I also didn’t realize he is such a good passer and has excellent court vision. He’s also very fiery..: they’ve had the mic on him a few games and you can hear him getting fired up. So surprised with his level of competitiveness and grit. I knew he would be a great addition but I think he if he stays healthy the trade is going to be a key moment for the franchise.

Be great to have Williams back on the bench, but I feel like if the Celtics had something to offer instead of him they would've done that in the first place

This is true. You forgot to mention his 3 technical fouls so far, I think Scal said that was a high in the NBA. He does get fired up and I love it. But it is kind of funny in an odd way - Haha.

It’s ****ing hilarious because of the broken English. The other night he’s like “where? where?” asking the ref where he fouled the guy. But it sounded like “ve-er? ve-er?” Just something so funny about a 7’4” European guy being up the refs asses all night with his limited words. Lol

How is the best play at the buzzer a three from Brown

Brown with a -16 tonight. He didn’t even attempt to create a shot for anyone else or try an angle on that play.

He might be the worst off ball defender in the NBA, as he stops defending after getting screened, and on offense just runs through his target instead of actually setting the screen.

Fun game to watch though. Minnesota is an exciting team to watch. Celtics needed Holliday to have a big game with White out and Jrue didn’t have it tonight, despite plenty if effort and playing well in other areas.

Overall bad shooting night, but all things being equal Celtics win if Pritchard could manage a point in 20 minutes
He had a +13. Not that +/- is everything, but the Celtics were outscoring the Wolves with Tatum and most of the subs. Sometimes not scoring or shooting much isn’t a bad thing if you’re working in the flow of the offense. Missed shots, and especially stupid low pct shots are what hurt the most since you’re throwing away opportunities for other players to have higher percentage shots.

I think Tatum was trying to foul out Edwards in OT with that dribble mess jump ball. That was a big momentum changer. I actually thought it was an obvious foul when Tatum was on the floor with the ball and Edwards was reaching over his shoulder in rapid fire movements…isn’t Tatum still the ballhandler at that point? Anyway, NBA has weird rules so who knows, but an interesting attempt by Tatum to bait Edwards after he just baited and fouled out Towns.

I think Brown was 10 for 18 on the evening. I think Porzi and Holiday were the issue tonight (combined 9 for 30)?
Jaylen Brown was one of the main reasons we were in that game. I agree it was a poor night for Jrue, particularly in his shooting. KP’s foul trouble is also an increasing concern of mine.

I agree, but Pritchard has to start scoring. It appears as though there is an issue there.
He seems to have a hard time taking the ball to the rim because of his height. If his three pointer isn’t falling I don’t think your getting much offense out of him at all.

He was 10-21, but I guess my issue isn't so much Brown taking the shot as the team settling for a three there. But that's a chronic thing

Yeah, I agree. Seems to be a NBA thing where they do an iso on the last shot. I never understand why they don't work for a better shot.
