Celtics 2023 - 2024 Discussion

Bad night for Jaylen. Even worse for Tatum if we go by the +/-, which we put a lot of emphasis on here.

JT was a -26, team worst, scored most of his points from the line in garbage time. He’s playing too passive. For a guy who is viewed as a top 5 player he needs to be taking over games and doing it in crunch time.

Both guys need to be better.
They will. 2 of your key guys were out. These are the ebs and flows of the NBA season. Guys looked tired, missing shots missing lay ups.. it's all about where this team is come April and
Glad I missed this one. 6/22, 3 TOs, 4/7 FTs.
Lol
Worst statistical regular player on the team is taking the most shots and getting the most minutes.
Maybe it's me. But I think we need to step up our perimeter defense. I thought brissette was supposed to be a defensive stopper? It's getting old watching guys just get to the rim at will. This is where Rob the lob is missed. Muzzulla is clearly going with offense off the bench rather than letting our defense lead to offense.

Derrick White had a bad shooting night, 0-6 on threes, and still had a +29, way above anyone else. A little bittersweet because there was a thought last year that White should be the primary point guard getting a lot of minutes while Smart should be a defensive specialist/rotational guy. It is just one game but we saw how good White is when he’s the man out there. Great shot maker and defender.

I feel so let down watching them without Soda Popzingis. He makes the game 10x more entertaining.

More Queta please. His finishing is pretty rough around the edges, at least based on what I saw last night but I liked everything else.

I think he’s an upgrade from Kornet

His rebounding, athleticism and defense is a significant upgrade no question.

Halftime update for in season tournament:

Orlando +22 (finished)
Boston +19 (lead by 19)
Brooklyn +16 (lead by 8)

Celtics and Nets both need to win to force 3-way tiebreaker, and Celtics must have largest differential. Or coming into tonight, Celtics must win by at least 23 (to overtake Magic differential) and by at least 9 points more than the margin the Nets needs to win by.

still hoping we have another W without KP, regardless. However, I do understand the bench players wanting the 500K. Kind of making it interesting.

NBA In-Season Tournament. The NIT...I get it now.

I was watching game on Bulls broadcast and the guys were practically cheering on the C’s to cover the 23 points and admiring their effort.

I noticed Joe was fairly quick to pull all of the starters out when the Bulls player fell on Jaylen’s leg toward the end. It was still great to watch all the star players really trying hard to maintain the lead, it added some juice the tournament that I otherwise didn’t care about.

Another great outing tonight w/JB leading the way. KP can rest up until he’s 100%, the Cs are cruising along just fine.

Wow don’t know what the odds were but Celtics advanced.

Better way to do NBA tournament is just to play a randomly drawn, conference free, single elimination tournament. 1-2 games each week, winner moves on, loser goes home. It was a travesty to watch so many teams outcomes based on randomness of point differentials in other games, and you have a bunch of 3-1 teams going home despite winning their “must win” challenges. Group Stage is really stupid for basketball. Also in soccer tournaments goal differential makes more sense and usually the top 2 teams in each group advance.

This whole thing is a **** show as at the end of the Nets game they went from a tie game most of the way to a last ditch attempt to win by 19 with the Raptors forcing up low pct 3s. Two teams playing with different goals.

The last game of the group stage is down to Warriors versus Kings, where Warriors need to win by 12+ to advance, Kings need to win or lose by <12 to advance. Warriors lead by 20. A total embarrassment by the NBA not to think this through.

Yeah none of the starters need the 500k but they all busted their butts to make sure their bench-riding teammates get a shot at it. Obviously a close-knit team
