Some of you are forgetting that @MikeReiss said a reunion is possible with Arrington. His salary was just too high for his role.

Didn't Swanson have a great showing at training camp last year, even before Butler started having a great camp.

This is not what it seems, in my opinion. Belichick had to cut the roster by one to take on a new player and figured Arrington was the safest cut, since other teams wouldn't be interested in him and he could be reinstated at leisure.

Veterans don't go through waivers until after the trade deadline. Arrington can immediately sign with anyone.
