Casale on Ivan Fears...huh?

Anybody else scratching their heads at this item from the Patriots.com mini camp recap?

"New running backs coach Ivan Fears should quickly become a fan favorite at training camp. His booming voice could be heard all throughout practice and players seem to take well to Fears’ in-your-face approach."

Yeah, I read that. He farted a big one there. He must have been thinking back to a few years ago when Fears was the WR coach and gotten confused with us having a new WR coach this year.

Maybe Patriots.com got the veteran Fears mixed up with the new offensive assistant Bill O'Brien. That's a pretty big oversight mind you.

There may have been a mistake there, but I don't think Casale or anyone else is somehow misinformed or confused re: the fact that Fears has been here awhile.

i remember past mgmt put him in charge of turning terry glenn into a "good guy"
when that didnt pan out, i figured fears would be fearing his job security ()
one of a few to stick around through a few administrations (scharnechia of course amazes me all the time)

If so it's one of the worst written sentences ever . . . that sentence cannot be parsed in any way to result in that.

O'Brien was working with Fears cross training, according to something I read. I'll give Alison the benefit of the doubt on this one.

The "new" may have been mistakenly applied to Fears instead of Nick Cesario, new WR coach (who isn't necessarily new, either). Uber-scout and talent evaluator Cesario has been no stranger to the QB/WR aspect of practice, especially at training camps. He was also Josh McDaniels' QB in college and should have a major voice in winnowing down the WR ranks by season's start.
