Carr OUT for the season

THIS. Even if you dont feel hfa is priority, having the 1 seed is a huge advantage here. There is a good possibility kc wins the 2 seed which would mean we'll either get a horrible afcs team or raiders without carr in rd 2. And if mia pulls the upset in rd 1, we get them @ home. All 3 of those matchups look great for us.

If we fall to 2 seed we are almost def needing to play both pitt/balt and kc. Of course these are all teams we should beat but youre odds are much better the route of #1 seed as these are all tougher matchups.

For those worried about facing denver, we would be playing them in foxboro. Whens the last time theyve beaten us here? Theyre really only a threat in mile high.

We used to say that about the Ravens and Jets too and look how that turned out. Getting Denver out of the playoffs is #1 priority and it is completely in our hands.

IMO...best case for Pats....Balt and KC win today
KC win next week against SD, Oak loss vs Den
Pitt-Den out of play-offs
Pats play Oak/Hou/Mia in round 2 and then the Balt/KC winner in the AFCCG

Clearly as a Patriot fan we root for KC which helps us two ways 1) eliminating Denver (which hurts Pittsburgh on tiebreakers) 2) Opening the possibility of an "easier" AFCCG opponent.

Too bad the Pittsburgh/Ravens game is first.

Youre really overestimating denver if youre making them the priority. I can understand wanting them out, i do as well but PRIORITY?? They're not the same team as last year, and we would be getting them at home.

How can they get in as a 6th seed? Don't the dolphins have the tiebreaker over them?

Yes, Miami beat Pitt head to head they get in, Pitt is out. That is the best case scenario for us... Let's go Ravens!

A 3 way with who?

If Pitt loses today and beats Cleveland, they finish 10-6
If we beat Miami, Miami finishes 10-6

Miami beat the Steelers head to head in that scenario and they get in as the #6 and Pitt is out...
Den-Pitt-Mia

The Broncos haven't won a game in Gillette since 2006, and they've lost their last 5 games by an average margin of 20.8 points!

Agree completely, I'll take Denver in Foxborough over Pitt if I'm given the choice. We can run on them and their home field advantage is long gone. Right now I think a KC vs NE AFCCG is the most likely scenario.

You don't think Pittsburgh can make it to the AFCCG?

A few things.

Merry Christmas to all who read this.

An eerie feeling came over me when I looked at Carr being knocked out. It reminded me of the day 40 years ago when the Pats were robbed of a playoff game by a bad call. The call that day went in favor of the Raiders and gave them an opportunity to face a Pittsburgh team who had been decimated by injuries earlier that day. The Raiders then went on to play a weak NFC team and got a SB win.

For those of you who haven't had the foresight to follow my posting career closely, let me explain what has happened with the Raiders this year. Back in 2001 I put a 25 year curse on them (the same amount of time I had to wait for a SB win after the theft of 1976) and they won't be winning anything until 2026 at the earliest. This season has just been a cruel hoax on them and something horrible was bound to happen.

And for those of you who keep asking if I forgot about last year's 'play to not get hurt' game in Miami, I say it is you who is more forgetful. What about the last game at home vs Buffalo the year before last? That was truly a 'play to not get hurt' game and it worked perfectly. Also, Tom Brady played that game last year at Miami and I think his knee got tweaked on a dirty play by Suh. If anything lost the Miami game last year it was the ridiculous game plan.

Every play that Brady is in for next week will make me very nervous. As someone mentioned here earlier, Miami's a dirty team and they're playing for their playoff lives. I'd be surprised if they didn't try to take Brady out.

One last thing. After looking at a replay of the Carr injury. it looks to me that it could have been done on purpose. The tackler knew he had Carr's leg pinned under him and that he was down, but he gave him an extra rollover and SNAP!

Denver in Denver is totally different then them on the road due to the altitude and the crowd noise

we likely win the afccg last year if it is in Foxboro as they would not need to use a silent snap count and storks head bop.

granted, with carrs loss as i hate to see it our road to the superbowl got sonewhat easier

Yikes......that some cold-blooded **** man lmao

I'd rather have Miami than Pittsburgh in as well. It's not even remotely close. But I would like to not have to beat a team three times in the same season. Division opponents in the playoffs are a massive pain in the ass due to the level of familiarity.

Yup, probably kc or pitt. Best case scenario imo is not getting both kc AND pitt.

I don't think I'm being cold-blooded. I didn't wish injury on their players, I would never do that. I just put a curse on them to lose.

I totally agree, and yet here's a statistical oddity: for the past two seasons, the Broncos have actually allowed more points per game at home than on the road.

The two teams with massive defensive home-field advantages are KC and Baltimore. The wild-card path shouldn't be kind to either team.

I certainly feel bad for both OAK and TN. Two good, young QBs.

Its better quality football with them playing.

With that said, no one cried when the NEP suffered injury after injury last year.

Its a war of attrition.

Sometimes you eat the bar and well, sometimes it eats you.

No, I know you're not that kinda guy.

25 years is just a long time to wait to win a Supet Bowl

For perspective..... I'm 26 years old, and I've seen my team win 4 and go to 6!!

if oak beats den next week, and the Pats win and get the #1 seed, most likely Pats opponent would be KC with the #5 seed(assuming they beat Hou at #4 seed). Not crazy about KC in 2nd round.

If Den beats Oak, most likely Pats would play Hou or Carr-less Oak....much more favorable IMO
