Why to big to play center though ? My worry on that position is that he does not know the system well enough to make the line blocking calls. But, if he could make those calls and snap accurately on the shotgun, I think he could be a good fit at center in the future.

FWIW, Cannon's biggest weaknesses in college were getting up out of his stance and raising his hands quickly. It's hard for me to picture him at center.

Could you imagine a goal line formation that had the following:

Gronkowski, Solder, Light, Manking, Connolly, Waters, Vollmer, Cannon, and Hernandez.

Then put Woodhead and BJGE in the backfield.. *LOL*

Jayzus, I never thought a list of guys names could make me almost giddy, but it just did!

For the goal line formation, I'd rather have:

Solder, Light, Mankins, Connolly, Waters, Vollmer, Cannon, Gronk

......................Brady

......................Big Vince

.......................BJGE

Fixed it for you.

I don't know Cannon other than his story, but having been through a similar diagnosis at one point in my life, I can't help but feel some sense of pride in him proving the people wrong who said there was "no way he plays this year."

Some were on this board.

Go Marcus... kick some serious butt!

I loved this signing!!!

at 6-5 isn't he too tall for a G?

...and what position(s) they envision for Cannon. I think most of us were picturing RG when he was drafted, but how much of that was based on the Pats' existing talent at the time? Right now, I'd be surprised to see Brian Waters give up the starting job this year or next.

I was thinking the same thing. I mean this line is stacked from start to finish. It's a shame some of these guys won't be playing game time because in my mind they've all contributed in a big way.

With Vollmer still out and Cannon practicing we sure do have some quality depth any way you spin it. It really sets my nerves at ease.

FYI: as someone else pointed out to me on the board, if you had this exact line up, they'd be penalized for illegal formation; you need to have at least one eligible receiver on each side of the OL.

So they declare eligible. Not a problem.

Gronk or Hernandez would have to be step behind the line. That's not a problem either.

If you mean that they'd declare Light eligible, that IS a problem, b/c then Waters would have to snap the ball.

Only problem is you wouldn't have Brady on the field.

Great news...what a suprise.

BB seems to really like this kid.

First, that's not true. Imbalanced formations are legal.

Second, I didn't read that formation is being those guys IN EXACTLY THAT ORDER.

And if it was meant to be lined up like that, couldn't Hernandez just go in motion to the left side of the line? (or just start on the left in the first place)

At 6'5 358 pounds,I like how everybody is calling him kid.

YEAH!!!

what?

He's only 23... so therefore "kid". When you're in your 40's, 50's, 60's.... 23 is still a kid. I don't think anyone here means it as a sign of disrespect.

Bring Cannon along slowly and ease him in.....He looks like he's gonna be a monster wherever he plays.....Koppen hasn't been missed too much so far....

Imagine if Scar had him anchoring in the middle as a center ..Yikes

Sure Cannon need to be in an NFL conditioning program to get his body in better shape. And I suspect that's exactly what he's been doing the last couple of months.

But my observations of watching him play in a couple of games was that he carried his weight very well. He got out to the second level quickly and never gave up on a play. always looking to block another guy until the play was over.

He should be a very good backup at OG this year and most likely a long time starter going forward.
