Can This Team Win the Super Bowl?

Of course, but I will say that we no longer have a cakewalk in the AFC. We learned that last night without even playing an AFC team.

KC, Denver, and Baltimore could all get us if the offense doesn't have its best day. All three have very good defenses.

Even Oakland could give us a shootout. Could you imagine what Derek Carr would've done to that defense last night?

Could you imagine what Tom Brady would have done to Oakland's 28th ranked defense?

Our defense is apparently an issue, but Oakland's (who ranks near the bottom) is of no concern, and according to most Pats fans, good enough for a deep playoff run.

Gotta love the stupidity on this forum.

I think they match up well with a team like oakland. Not as physical.

Also, regarding other AFC teams with good defenses, KC's offense would be the only one that could potentially give us issues in the postseason. Denver's offense is not the kind that will give our defense trouble, and Baltimore may not even make the playoffs.

Offense "sucked" last night too. 24 points, close to 400 yards, 60% on 3rd down. But according to some of this board it sucked.

To be fair, I thought the whole team played/coached poorly last night. I just don't think that a single game defines an entire team or season.

You can't see Simeon getting an early TD and then A few FGs throughout the game and watch their D Shut us down again? I think that is a possibility

This offense can win a lot of the games .. most in fact.
The playoff games with this defense will be very difficult.
But yesterdays defense will not be the January defense.

I believe there's enough time and space for this D to improve.
And its not about talent. It is what it is. Somebody needs to bring this D together, put some fire and grit in it.
Also some fun, excitement. Every stop is a sort of sack. Get excited, celebrate every stop. And this will generate more stops .. If the D can generate the same energy the O already has Pats will be the team to beat.

Nope. We end 7-9 and suffer our first losing season under Brady.

Seriously, we are still threats. Duh!

I think it has do with talent. How can they tweak it? It's very conservative. I like flowers alot. Yesterday they got a sack and they gave up 13 yards immediately.

Offense overall played well against a tough defense. Brady's deep throws were on the money(except for the pick). Defense needs to get much better...but then again, Wilson was outstanding last night I thought

We can but it will require stellar offense all the way through the playoffs. Struggle for one game it may be over.

No, I don't see Denver's defense shutting us down if we're healthy. Despite playing what was a subpar game for this offense, they still put up 24 points against the best defense in the league. 24 points would be enough vs Denver.

Having Lewis back by then will help a great deal as well.

This doesn't get mentioned enough. Wilson was dropping dimes all over the field. It was just a great game by him, and he would have shredded just about any defense.

Hence the term shootout, you ****ing moron.

You clearly don't watch any of the games outside of NE, but Oakland's defense is indeed far far worse than NE's. We'd be able to run or pass on them at will, and put together long, clock eating drives with absolutely no issue. The advantage our offense would have over their defense would be far greater than their offense would have over our defense. There's literally nothing they do well. They don't cover, they can't stop the run, they don't pressure the QB, they're not good in the red zone. At the very least, our defense tightens up in the red zone.

That game wouldn't be close.

Not denying that they have a bad defense. One thing I will say about their defense though is that they have someone you have to legitly gameplan for in Khalil Mack. We don't have a Khalil Mack on our defense in comparison. They also might get Aldon Smith and Mario Edwards Jr. back, which could give them a very strong pass rush down the stretch.

I wasn't saying they'd win. I just think they'd keep the game competitive at the very least.

Don't say I don't watch the games because I watch every game that I can. Browns Ravens was the first prime time game that I did not watch.

I've been following Oakland more than any other team outside of New England this year. Most of their FA acquisitions on defense haven't really worked out for them so far, namely Smith and Nelson in the secondary. Smith especially got absolutely toasted early in the season. But they do have difference makers in Mack, Perry Riley, and Karl Joseph. It's a defense that's been very bad, but looks like it at least has the potential to improve down the stretch.

I was scratching my head over the pass he threw into the end zone where Hogan appeared to give up on the play and the ball was almost intercepted. What the heck was Chris doing there?
