Ok I will ask the question I was figured would already be posted. How does that work, he retires a few days ago and then re-signs with a different team, was his contract expired, i.e only a one year deal with the dolphins? I just don't understand that part of it, because if he still had time left on his contract than any player could just say "I am retiring" and then wait a week and sign with someone else.

A little help with this please.

He was released by Miami in March for cap space. That effectively made him a free agent.

Sure, Seau is old, and probably will never play up to the level he did that earned him 12 PRO BOWL invitations, but he may still have a very solid year left in him. He had a great year for Miami in 2003, but suffered injuries in '04 and '05. Anyone calling him overrated doesn't truly appreciate the impact he had with San Diego and the defense.

If he can stay healthy (assuming he makes the cut and the team) he may surprise many people.

EDIT: Forgot to add that he always gives 110 percent effort.

You have to leave out Izzo and Davis because they make the roster far above Beisel in special teams slots.

Gardner, Alexander, and Roach ?? I'll make a prediction for you - one of those guys will make the roster and Beisel will not.

Not this year. There are too many talented secondary people to just keep two pure Sters, who are aging, undersized LBs who can't take a regular snap or three...

"That's impossible. By definition nobody can give more than 100 percent."

Don't know which movie that's from, but if you remember it, laugh now.

But obviously not you because you kiss his ***** on every move he makes and never ever question his judgement. Back when we were winning the super bowls, it was easy to just nod your head in approval. Lately though, he's been 50/50 at best in his personnel decisions. I think this move was more out of desperation than anything else. Oops, there I go again, someone call me a troll and put me in my place.

You're actually right, (surprise!), but a desperation move is better than a non move.

There's no doubt Belichick is patching. For whatever reason, BB hasn't seen the type of LB he wants to invest in for the future.

He's passed over some decent players recently, so it isn't like he's not looking.

Guys like Seau and Rodney might help certain players to grow up quicker or grow a pair, (Monty) while BB looks carefully for the future at the position too.

You have to admit, he's been deliberate but quite succesful when he's pulled the trigger, (Vrabel Colvin).

Plus even over the hill he has fire, experience and freakin tackles people which is more than you can say about any of the ILB cnadidates sofar.

I like what I see for starters now!! Junior will arrive very hungry and I think he will have enough left in the tank to contribute. BB will know exactly how to play him to take full advantage of his eroding skills - make no mistake, he still has what it takes.

Who gets cut???

TBC
Woods
Beisel
Brown
Mincey
Roach
Alexander
Gardner
Izzo
Davis

I don't think it matters. IR, PS. Probably Roach. I like Woods so far to stick.

I am by no means trying to start a rumor here, but the first thought that came to my mind when I heard about Seau was - just how long is Bruschi expected to be out?

Like everyone else, I like the idea of bolstering the linebacking corps with veteran experience; but that question just kept nagging at me. Hearing the Pioli was in Dallas didn't help things either.

Not just Brushi what about Chad Brown? Up until his injury he was doing leaps and bounds better at OLB and ST than most other players. He could be a big reason why we are going out and signing another veteran LB.

Even with Tedy back we need help at ILB if Vrabel stays outside, I wouldn't be too concerned. Yesterday, btw, Greg ****erson said that Bruschi's cast was off.

Damn, you're right! Okay, I guess we will have to settle for 100 percent effort.

Another thing Seau has mentioned is an interest in coaching. BB may be looking at him as a possible future LB coach candidate given how often his staff keeps being recruited away.

Or like Rayclay mentioned, even if he is only doing patchwork, he may help some of our lesser-thans "grow a pair" and step up their game a level.

His cast could be off but it doesnt mean its anything close to healed. Especially if he had screws placed in.

April Fools Day is a little late in San Diego these days.

But living there, how can you tell whether its spring, summer, fall or winter?

Seau cant coach. Ask any team that he's been with. He tells the younger guys to play fast and with agression. Not how to watch schemes, know play recognition. Nope just tackle the guy with the ball. That doesnt work for everyone and i dont want him teaching our young guys just go out there and hit.

Did you see any inside linebackers that tackled the guy with the ball?

These guys are all classroom All-Pros. I want to see some freaking hitting out there.

You can't freaking tackle "in theory".

As I coach I agree but as a player I would not scorn that attitude, which I felt was thoroughly missing from our defense at certain points last season.

I don't have that kind of connections to "ask any team he has played with". As to telling young guys to tackle the guy with the ball and hit hard, that sounds like a pretty good philosophy.

In all seriousness though, do you really think the guy approaches the game on that simple a level? Not saying he doesn't, I honestly couldn't tell you what his football insights are. But I could accept a seasoned linebacker that plays with aggression and "tackles the guy with the ball".

Seau was released by the Dolphins awhile back.
