It's easy, and only takes a few moments.Because it's trading one messed-up QB for another messed-up QB - whose stats are shockingly similar.I've seen the idea of NE trading for Fields a lot, with some idjits (not here, thank God) suggesting the Patriots trade #3 for Fields and the Bears' #9.
Can someone please explain the logic of this? It just feels like trading one messed-up QB for another messed-up QB.
To be clear, I meant "Why should the Patriots do this?"Because it's trading one messed-up QB for another messed-up QB - whose stats are shockingly similar.
Worst QB of the 2021 draft class has become a true race to the bottom.

And to be clear, I am in complete agreement with you. Why would you waste any assets whatsoever to bring in a guy who is, at best, marginally better than Mac Jones. Other than 'hurr durr he can run'. You're better off trading out of 3 and loading up on draft capital, and start Mac Jones, and get a top 5 pick next year too - maybe that's the plan.To be clear, I meant "Why should the Patriots do this?"
But, we've seen 3 years of him in the league, and all he does is suck. Also he criminally underachieved in college.I don’t love the idea, but I could see trading for him. Definitely not 3 for Fields and 9. Maybe a third round pick.
I don’t love the prospects after Williams and Maye and he’s only a year older than Daniels, Nix, and Penix. He may still have more potential, a higher floor, and cost less draft capital than those three.
That's all I'd trade for him, the talk on radio today was about what to trade for Fields.Straight up Justin for Mac ... nothing more.
It would be beyond stupid to trade for Fields. The Bears know he sucks, the Patriots know he sucks, the fans know he’s sucks. Why would you trade for a player that sucks. It’s much better to get a draft pick for Mac instead. But, we've seen 3 years of him in the league, and all he does is suck. Also he criminally underachieved in college.
And this is the misconception. "Better than Mac Jones" doesn't mean "all right".Because people are scared ****less over taking a QB at #3. The alternative option is to pick MHJ with the belief that Fields, who is alright, can be elevated further by a top notch receiver.
Personally I don't love the idea of inevitably handing out a sizeable paycheck to an average QB.
That means that Fields is worth the #20 pick in the draft. He is . . . not.I'm not interested. In the event it were to happen the only trade that would make sense for both sides would be pick 3 for Fields & 9.
Bears get Williams and MHJ.
Pats get Nabers/Odunze or the remaining tackle of the top 3.
My preference is making a selection at 3.
