Cam Newton Tests Positive; Out for KC game

Truly sucks. Best wishes for a full recovery cam. If things go as planned, I still believe we beat den next week with hoyer/stidham and be at 3-2 when we get cam back, which is what most of us were expecting WITH cam going into the bye. This wont break our season, if one is completed. Now THAT is something im not quite as confident about. Not even 4 games in and things have been impacted in a big way.

Tuesday night football it is

Brian Hoyer time. Expect us to get an old fashioned shellacking.

Nobody WILL EVER KNOW FOR SURE how Cam got the virus. There will be hypothesis, but finding "patient zero" will never be certain.

The most studied small workplace in the world, the US White House, can't figure this out for their multiple infections. They can't even nail down the timeline, much less the sequence of people.

It is entirely possible that another Pats player or staff member has had the virus, tested negative, and been spreading it. It is also possible that one of the Raider's had it, still has it, and it testing negative.
It's also possible Cam was out partying too. Remember he told WEEI he left his family at home given his time in NE was a "business trip." Rest assured our media trolls will find out either way.

Can Cam still play if it's Tuesday night football? I would imagine that's too soon...

The nerve of the league to preach things like player safety and integrity, when Goodell sees this as a unique opportunity for Tuesday night and will piss away safety concerns at the expense of it

We do know he is patient zero.

EVERY player is tested EVERY day.

No other player has tested positive.

That means he is the first.

I mean, this is kinda common sense...

He went out somewhere or he allowed someone into his home. There is no other way to get it.

If I get it, it’ll be because I went out, or because someone brought it into my home.
Is the staff tested every day of just the players??? He could have picked it up from a gas pump or door handle or a myriad of other ways through no fault of his own. There is lots of this that we don't know re transmission and testing is unreliable and he could test negative tomorrow.... We dont know if he is patient zero and if reports are true that his family is home in NC and he is the first in and last one out, there is th epossibility that someone in the facility was patient zero and he just happens to be player zero .
...

Late to the party here. Have any other players tested positive? We’re going to get ***** slapped.

Yes we do know that.

Every player is tested every day.

NO other player in the regular season has tested positive on the team.

We KNOW he is the first.
I’m going to ignore the aphorism about why you shouldn’t wrestle with a pig and reply anyways.

We know no such thing. There is variation in when people test positive. Two people could be infected the same day and be tested every day and one can test positive two days after the other.

Just a Queefs player, so they are moving the game to Tuesday...

Not yet Kontra, but I'm sure testing is still going on. Game on Sunday has been cancelled. Possibly Monday or Tuesday depending on what happens with more test results.

Assuming he doesn't end up getting sick at all, at least it means we won't have to worry about him getting it again for the rest of the season.
