Cam is not the Answer

Easy. In the 4th quarter of Super bowl LIX, TB12 was throwing to JE12 (7th rounder), Danny Amendola (UDFA), James White (4th Rounder), Marcus Bennet (acquired for a 6th rounder) & Malcom Mitchell (4th rounder). The OL was a 1st rounder (Soldier), a 3rd rounder (Thuney), a UDFA (Andrews), a 5th rounder (Mason) & a 5th Rounder (Cannon)...
There is only 1 UDFA WR on that list, maybe try again?

Cam is not the answer, but he's closer to the answer than anyone at our WR, TE, DL, LB positions.

If the question is,"Who blows?" The answer is,"Cam." Next man up. I couldn't care less who it is. Maybe Ryan Mallet is still around. I hear Caserio can throw the ball a little. Bill's kids can't coach; maybe they can play.

I disagree, hell Brady WON a SB with a WR cast of who’s who WR’s in 2001 (Troy Brown was the only good receiver on the roster). And that’s just one example. I’m sure I could find many more.
True, but the defense on that 2001 team was much more of a positive factor to the team's success than the current D is in 2020.

In 2001 the Pats scored 43 TD overall, 36 by the offense (2.2 TD/game); seven TD were scored by D/ST.

In 2020 the Pats have now scored 23 TD, 21 by the offense (2.1 TD/game); only 2 TD have been scored by the defense.

You can disagree all you want but facts are facts. Even on those teams Brady wasnt throwing to a bunch of UDFA's. Cam spread the ball to 8 different receivers. 5 had multiple catches and he did not turn the ball over. What's the defenses excuse for not getting to the QB and giving up 27 points to a 2-7 football team?

Or the fact that Harris only had 11 Carries for 40 yards against the NFLs worst rush defense?
The difference is, Brady won with that rag tag group of guys. Hell David Patten was a former Arena ball WR. Brown, 2001 was his 2nd good year, he really clicked with Brady. Brady’s TE’s were horrible (like they are now). His backup receivers were horrible. You can call our current WR’s what you want, but Meyers has already proven himself, Harry is a 1st round pick who has not come close to playing as well he did in college, but he definitely has talent. Byrd has prior success with Cam, and the Pats have the 4th best rushing offense in football, so they should be doing better offensively.

A better QB would get more out of this group. I’m hoping at the draft, they get their franchise QB in the 1st round, and then rounds 2-5, NOTHING but EXPLOSIVE OFFENSIVE players. WRs, RBs, TE’s etc. at least 2 WR’s. No slow pokes.

My dream is they land Zach Wilson. I don’t think they will be bad enough to land one of the top 3 QBs. I just have a feeling Wilson is the real deal. There’s just something about him, the same feelings I had about Justin Herbert. Wilson is smaller, but he’s not tiny, has a cannon, is accurate, can throw on the run, can extend plays, and can run really well if he has to run.

I know he played crap competition this year, but it’s not about that, evaluators can see past that and see how good he is.

I want whoever Prancermunt...er, man...doesn't want.

BB & McDaniles know how to leverage JG's strengths. Much more so that Shanahan ever will.

If JG was with the Pats, we would have still won in 2017 & we'd be watching this f'n Pats porn every week. JG was Steve Young to Brady's Montana. It's a total tragedy that Bobby Kraft f'd it all up.

sure jg would look good in this offense, but chances are he gets injured more years than not. No point investing in someone who’s unlikely to stay on the field.

and im assuming you meant we still woulda won in 2018? Slim chance jg pulls off that win in arrowhead. After last years sb where he missed multiple open receivers while crumbling in the 4th quarter, but somehow hed convert ... 4 straight key 3rd downs at kc?

i think cam is the best option on the team this year, and I hope he isnt on the team next season. Really frustrated how many passes are low and in the dirt, to wide open receivers. Game changer today.

The point is the Cam is the polar opposite of everything BB said he wanted in a QB. Yet he blows smoke up BB's ass, so we need to waste a season watching him make poor decisions and throw the ball like a slightly better version of Tim Tebow.

BB should have been drafting QB's the minute he traded JG, starting with Lamar Jackson. It's pathetic that the so called greatest coach ever has let his team become non-competitive because he can't find a QB. Maybe BB has just lost his fastball. It happens open you turn 70.
I didn't lose my fastball until 73.

No, we do not. This season is OVER. Try Stidham. Give Warren Moon a jingle. Whatever. Just don't win any more games. That's a challenge this year's team can handle.
You don’t just throw the backup in with 6 games left to tank the rest of the way. The goal is to compete to win each week. That’s the culture we have in place, I for one don’t want to risk losing that mentality just to be a little higher up in the draft.

The Steelers drifted for years before finding Ben.

The Seahawks were good but lacked the most important player on the team and they found Wilson.

The Chiefs were good and they won some games and made the postseason, but just could not close the deal until Mahomes.

Its been so many years where the Pats havent needed a QB that people have forgotten what its really like not to have one. The arguing and division over Bledsoe was legendary. All Ashley can do is ban me from the threads for expressing the truth. I dont like it anymore than you men and women but that is where we are.

Cam has a great attitude and plays hard. While he has certainly not played great if this team had the 2019 defense they are likely 6-4 and in contention for a playoff spot. I do not think he is the long term answer but for the right price he may still be the best option for 2021 as finding a quality QB is not easy With another year in the system and a few player improvements I could see him being effective enough for them to be competitive for the division next year.

I'd like to see Cam run the ball more. Watson had several huge scrambles today while I do not think Cam had any. His running is a must for him to be effective.

franchise qbs don’t exactly grow on trees. Youre not going to move on seamlessly from a guy like brady, it may take a couple years. Until then you can do alot worse than cam.

When on the last 4th down play to likely win/lose the game the ball is snapped and in less than a second Cam is evading one rusher and then has 3 more on his ass within 4 seconds, that's on the line. When a skill player completely whiffs a block and Cam is hit as soon as he finishes his drop back, that's not an awareness thing, that's a "the line didn't do their job thing". The line has to be accountable to give him some time

The QB has to set the protection pre-snap at the line. This happens a lot to Cam and rarely happened to Brady because Brady would set the protection correctly and then step up to avoid the pass rush going past him. It is an awareness thing when the opposing D declares they are bringing 3 from the left and the QB makes no adjustment. Go back and look at the play. The Texans' D did not disguise it, where was the adjustment at the line?

24 years to be exact. And people are ready to hang bb since he hasn’t found the next guy one year later.

I outlined more salient reasons in this post.
You've been waiting for a reason to bash Cam I see. Newton wasn't the reason for the loss. Not even remotely.

Try again a few weeks ago.

This post? I do not see any other posts from you and there are more salient reasons. Again you clearly say,"Newton wasn't the reason for the loss. Not even remotely." So what are the reasons?

yeah there is zero comparison between this team and 2001. Not just the defense but possibly our best year of special teams play too which we dont come close to a title without. This year’s team has none of that. no area of strength aside from maybe running.

Im withdrawing my vote to extend him.

Why did you ever vote to extend him? His footwork? His pinpoint passing? His adjustments at the line? How he steps up in the pocket? His quick release? Just wondering what you saw previously to think to extend him?

I like Cam. Great guy. I like his clothes and hats. But he has flourished by being a better athlete than anyone else on the field, and now that he has lost a step I do not see the wisdom and skill to flourish.

It's not that he has not found that guy in one year, it's that he had 3 years since he traded Jimmy to try to find the guy and all he did was draft Etling and Stidham. That is the issue. Brady was 40, 41, 42 and Bill did nothing at the QB spot. That is where the frustration lies.
