In 20-20 hindsight, Talib may have been the guy to sign. Reason not to was his "injury" prone status in January.
BB liked Talib and wanted him back.
No question. Via Jason Licht, GM of TB they knew Revis was hitting the market and strung out negotiations on Talib .Not enough perhaps.
Revis winning the title here is pretty ****ing funny. I wouldn't trade it for anything."Belichick, meanwhile, is giggling like a hyena at his Foxborough fortress for not getting taken by an old player on his last legs."

The point is, signing Revis instead of Talib was no more a BB "choice" than was not signing Revis last year. It is really revisionist history to credit BB for not re-signing each of them. That is not a criticism of BB.Revis in 2014 was First-Team All-Pro. He was better than Talib. That Talib's been better since Revis re-joined the Jets, no question. But in the 2014 offseason replacing Talib with Revis was the right choice.
He might be useful in that role or as a safety in a conversion project, but I doubt that he would play for anything but big bucks and the article implies that he has lost his taste for the game. Not what BB wants in a player. Besides, he has his ring. Would a second matter to him?BTW Talib is out again this week, bad back...
In Revis' defense, this is the same guy who said that the Jets would be in first place by the time Brady got back. I say sign Revis again after the Jets cut him this off season, let him play the guy with help over the top (Butler can cover one on one), and have him win another ring with the Pats.
The Jets are a dumpers fire!
LOL, could you imagine... having already been grossly overpaid, Revis takes a 2-year $8m deal to be "the other guy" next to Butler, McCourty helps over the top and the Pats secondary is elite...BTW Talib is out again this week, bad back...

Just hilarious how this has become a jests fan nightmare. Revis comes to NE to get a ring and then signs a huge contract with the jests only for him to breakdown in year 2 of that deal.
So great that when jests fans in the years/decades to come are looking back fondly on Revis as one of their best players ever there is always gonna be that "but he went to your fiercest rival to get a ring"
