Butler thinking about a new agent?

Great sign that he exhausted his options and will put his head down and get to work. No Collins here.
Probably deserves its own thread. Thsi board sure does err on the side of the 'lumpers' in the 'splitter' versus 'lumper' philosophy.

I have to admit, considering this season so far only, Better Call Saul has been better than The Americans. And in fact, this season, Better Call Saul is the best show on TV. The Mike/Gus stuff is top-notch, and they've been toning down Chuck's hamming.

Something happened to The Americans this season, it's hard to watch lately. But its first season was superb, better than the first season of Better Call Saul.

That episode on Monday.

Yes, the 5/8/2017 episode, S3E5, "Chicanery" was riveting, I can't deny it. Still thinking about it actually. It's unpredictable yet totally logical - that Huell was involved was clear in the vet scene, but I (and I guess everyone) assumed it was for a totally different purpose. It's like the Edelman pass against the Ravens, if that were the end of a TV season. And yes, it's so much better than The Americans now, or than any other show on TV I know of, that it's not even close at this point. Fargo has some points of interest, and can be clever, but isn't in BCS's league in plotting or writing.

I still think this show shot itself in the foot by its glacial pacing and Chuck cliches in season 2 (and the end of season 1). Might be hard to recover all the lost viewers, and obviously this is the kind of show that you have to have watched all the previous episodes to appreciate. I think they could have compressed the timeline quite a bit frankly.

The payoff wouldn't have been as great in Chicanery had it not been for the great build up of the first couple of seasons. The fact that an episode spent entirely inside a courtroom was so riveting, speaks volumes about the incredible character development and superb writing over the first 2 seasons.

As far as viewership, Breaking Bad had atrocious numbers for the first few seasons as well, but then steadily started to gain more viewers. Monday's episode of BCS had better viewership from the previous week, and I wouldn't be surprised if we see an upward trajectory from here on out, like we saw for BB.

I know quite a few people who gave up watching Breaking Bad anywhere from midway through season 1 to midway through season 2. I tell them every time that they made a huge mistake.

It's not surprising. Based on TV ratings, people prefer to watch a lot of **** over quality shows. The Wire had low viewership as well.
