Burn Some Cash 2: Jerod's Ghost

Is there any proof we went after most premium FA, besides a few of the Vet WR's? We signed Chuks before FA even started since he was cut.

Why would they put that out there, it would only hurt them?

Ask yourself this question PF2, would you rather they had spent their money in last year’s free agency class or this one?
They're were players available last year: but we were just an undesirable spot. Also our Team was moving on from the GOAT HC: QB position was in limbo until we Drafted Maye. Yeah based on all those factors I wouldn't want to come here either. To your question they Better be Big Spenders this year: even if they have to outbid other Teams.

Calvin Ridley and Aiyuk… no trace of them going after premium linemen.

If you chase shiny hood ornament WR’s, get rebuffed and sign stiffs like Okorafor, Leverett and Jordan on offensive line… you’ll suck again.

Go after the premium linemen first…
We can get that Shiny Hood Ornament WR and a Proven Vet Left Tackle with all our $$$$$$ in FA. Our Brass would make both of us happy Wozzy.

Wozzy can you talk about the good things.

There were no premium OL in last year’s class, that’s why the Giants paid 100$ million to Robert Hunt. I’m glad they saved the money for this year. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the knowledge that the Patriots are hungry for OL, and have plenty to spend on it is why guys like Alaric Jackson and Noteboom haven’t signed deals with the Rams. Their agents have told them to be patient and let free agency get them better deals.
Didn’t mean they had to target and sign the worst OL free agents… there were better options.

What about RT?

What about RT?
Plenty in this Draft I want Two Rookie Tackles who can swing. With one of the R Stanley - A Jackson or Cam Robinson in FA. I think Cam Robinson is going be a lot cheaper than the other two. I would also bring in former First Rounder Jedrick Willis Jr. from Cleveland: the more the merrier.

Pats will enter the season top 5 in cap space again. Cheapest franchise in the league until they show me anything different.

I agree that some OLs will go to market because the Pats are needy with loads of money. I am pretty sure that Hunt went to Carolina, but yea huge overpay, imo.

I see people clamoring for Tee Higgins, but look at the Bears with very good weapons but a below average OL or the Broncos with decent weapons and really good OL. I just don't understand the Higgins love. I think it was mentioned already, but should not be overlooked, we are changing defensive philosophy and will need to turnover a fairly significant number of our defense.

That 30M to Higgins could be Josh Sweat and Zack Baun or maybe Teven Jenkins and Cam Robinson, Stanley, or Alaric Jackson (just an example). Sign me up for bringing in 2 good needed players over Higgins. This team is still at the point that holes need to be filled and while WR is a hole, imo not a big a hole as OL.

According to Spotrac they have Robinson estimated value at 14M, Stanley at 20.7M and Jackson at 16M. I also think bringing in Wills is a good idea or Jaylon Moore who filled in for Trent Williams and he performed well. Moore and Wills won't be expensive.

Edit: I did not mean bring Moore or Wills instead of any of the other 3.

Visits/team interest are reported all the time in the offseason. I don't doubt some interest can remain secret, but a lot of this becomes public knowledge.

" I need to be damn mindful of it when I'm out on the motorcycle"

I did a lot of a motorcycle riding for the entire 10 years I lived in South Florida. Riding a bike in Florida has the extra added risk of sharing the road with what we used to call "Blue Hairs". Blue hairs are the nice "Old Ladies" who had just left their hair dressers and their hair seemed to have a bluish hew to it.

Anyhow, while riding on a double lane roads in FL, the "Blue Hairs" tended to not look when they wanted to change lanes and would just change lanes at anytime with absolutely no warning. That would make us pucker up when we had a Big Ass Lincoln just change lanes in front of our bikes and almost run us over. This happened very often.

This just added to the fun of survival. . .
Don't forget the redneck pickup truck factor thrown in on top of the blue hairs. ****ing terrifying to even drive a car in Florida never mind a motorcycle

I don’t disagree with that, but I don’t see how it would benefit the Patriots to announce that players rejected their offer because they didn’t want to play there.

So who would you have signed?

And would you rather have that $$$ to spend in this free agency or last year’s? I know my answer.

3 kinds of people in Florida:
Those that are running from death
Those that are running from the cold
Those that are running from the law

So who would you have signed?

They probably would have been signed on one year deals, like a tryout much like Chuks

Please continue to ignore the fact that we spent the 2nd most guaranteed money in 2023.

The issue will NOT be how we spend. It will not be the cap money that is rolled over into 2026. The issue will be WHO is signed and whether we fill our key positions on the OL and in the defensive front 7.

That’s not an answer. Would you have rather he spent that money in last year’s free agent market or this one?

Very simple question to answer.
