Many, many wanted us to cut our vets and move on. Wolf has chosen to re-sign and/or extend all our key vets, sign the usual number of free agent replacements, draft, rinse and repeat. I expect few $25M acquisitions, although a do hope for a couple each year.

25 PLAYERS NOW COST MORE THAN $3M OF CURRENT CAP MONEY
All COULD be back next year, although I think that the following are somewhat problematical.
SCHUSTER
BRISSETT
OKORAFOR
STRANGE
HOOPER
OSBORN

Of course, some of our future "key" players are also on the team, earning less than $3M, obviously including all the ST specialists, first contract draftees, and a couple of the hopefuls in the secondary.

I'm not sure what vets you're referring to wanting the Pats to cut. But like every team, your first way of building the roster is through the draft. If your draft picks fail, they will have to swing trades or FA's to make up for it. And if that doesn't work, the HC and GM end up getting fired.

Whoever is in charge, is taking the approach of signing anyone they envision is on the rise before they hit FA like Barmore. In addition, they are willing to overpay their own such as Owenu and Dugger (Peppers could've taken his spot) to avoid creating unnecessary holes on the roster.

Building this team should be all about developing a core through teh draft and college free agents

sprinkle in a few key UFA's that are top tier over the next 2-3 years

Keep your draft picks and try to acquire more until reach playoffs

Keep Mayo and Wolf on a short leash. If no progress after 2 years bring in experienced and tough head coach and GM

You know that all these guys Maye - Polk - Baker and Wallace are all going to be hits right?? Wolf will be here for a very long time household name I hope I'm here to rub it in your face.

I think they will both be on short leashes. Bob doesn't like his decisions back firing on him. If the media starts calling Bob out and mentioning the drop off from BB, he will throw Mayo under the bus to take the attention away from him.

Disagree this was a foundational hire.
Mayo gets at least to the end of Mayes contract to build a good program.

There has to be some upside with the team and most importantly Maye. If these picks don't work out, he won't last longer than Carroll did who made the playoffs 2 out of the 3 years he was the HC.

Feels like a bit of a strawman argument here. Not sure so many were saying this.

Lots were saying „where is my #1 WR?“ „Our drafts suk“ etc

Ok, this is more like what i thought i was gonna get in this thread from the title; an old-school PatsFans technical discussion of the roster.
