Buffalo Bills DL Marcell Dareus arrested on felony drug charges

What struck me from reading this was not the drug charge, but that Dareus was listed as a "pro Bowler"

I did a double-take too! Sure enough, he was an injury replacement this past season. Clearly, the league is in need of some new DT talent.

not just drug charges "Felony" drug charges. how much coke did he have?

Pro bowler or not, doesn't Dareus typically play well against us? I might be thinking of someone else, but if he ends up not being there for the week 6 game I'm not going to get too choked up about it.

The Pats have averaged 172 rushing yards per game and 5.15 yards per carry against the Bills since he was drafted, so apparently he's not solving any problems there. He's had some success as a pass rusher, though.

Bad timing.

couldn't he wait a week, THEN the Jills wouldnt be looking to draft the DT we want (whoever that might be)

LOL, Buffalo.

If a tree falls in the middle of the woods with no one around to hear, does it make a sound?

According to PFT, it was synthetic marijuana or what they call "spice". It's very hard to prosecute for this stuff because they just change the chemical make up of it, every couple of months to stay ahead of laws passed to prohibit it. This stuff is nasty and has caused some people to have some serious freak outs while on it. I doubt he even fails a drug test, but you would guess one will be coming his way.

Heard from very, very bad things about Spice. If you're an NFL player, how hard can it be to get the real thing?

Because they have tests that will find the real stuff, I think they do this stuff because it won't show up on the tests and isn't "technically" listed as a banned substance under the CBA.

Bills DT Marcell Dareus was arrested in Tuscaloosa, Ala. on Monday for possession of synthetic marijuana.

An Alabama product, Dareus was reportedly released within an hour of his arrest. It's an extremely minor offense compared to some of the issues Dareus' NFL peers have dealt with. The Bills recently exercised Dareus' 2015 team option. Coming off a beastly 2013, he's a candidate for a contract extension. This shouldn't change that.

Meh don't think it'll really turn into anything
