I think the fans realize it now but He's not ready to forgive the fans for being blamed for it.

I've always taken that line. Buckner's was the last one, so everyone remembers it. I always thought Stanley was more responsible.
The image I'll always have of Buckner (besides you know) was swinging at a pitch in the dirt with two strikes, and always "running" to first safely as the ball would go to the backstop.

Ask anyone about that game, and they'll tell you Buckner's error allowed the tying AND winning run to score. I've had this discussion with dozens of peoplem, and they all think I'm full of s*&t until they look and say 'Oh yeah...I forgot about that' It's ridiculous.

As someone who was 12 and listened to the game on the radio in bed since my parents wouldn't let me stay up and watch it, I was mad at Stanley's wild pitch that tied the game. People don't seem to realize that had Buckner made that play and stepped on the bag, the game still would have been tied at that point. Apparently everyone could see the future and just knew the Sox would have won in extra innings. I'll never understand it.
