Marchand mulling Florida return, but focus on Cup

Brad Marchand said he has considered re-signing with the Panthers this offseason but stressed that his focus remains on winning the Stanley Cup before making any free agency decisions.

The winger's contract is set to expire on July 1, and he’ll become an unrestricted free agent unless the Panthers reach a new deal between the end of the finals and that date.

That, according to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun and Chris Johnston, looks unlikely.

The franchise is reportedly leaning toward prioritizing other unrestricted free agents — namely, Sam Bennett and Aaron Ekblad — this summer over Marchand.

LeBrun said Marchand could command a three- or four-year deal worth north of $8 million per season.

I'm sure there have been times he took the correct angle in his own end. I just don't believe I've seen any of them. How can anyone who's that intuitive through the neutral zone get so lost once it starts going the other way? I have no idea how they'll go about fixing that

Don't misunderstand me, the deal is okay AFAIAC although from a cap standpoint I'd have preferred it lower ofc. My post wasn't derisive it was literally what it said, I have no clue how the coaching staff is going to get him to stop overthinking everything he does in his own end. The O'Brien kid taken immediately afterwards is also a Centre. And is 6'2.

Besides, what they Really need in the worst way is Goal-Scoring.

If the kid doesn't reach at least 16 goals next semester, then we might be in trouble...

His dad was a Jets fan. My Dad worked and used to routinely have lunch with Sandlers dad. Thats where he got his Jets fandom from.

He is an absolute stud. As many have pointed out he had consistently performed against guys that are 2-4 years older than him and has dominated. Barring injury, I have zero worry that this guy isn't going to be an elite high end center and perennial All Star type player.

Geekie's deal got done. 6 years for $33M. Could have been better, could have been worse, it's likely neither side is completely satisfied which makes it acceptable. $5.5M AAV for a 30 goal scorer seems like a relative bargain but Geekie wasn't going to get Pasta as a linemate anywhere else
