This team is not that team. I see 2005 all over again. 48-21 Denver. This will be almost unwatchable.

Even if Denver wins, I personally don't deem it as potentially "unwatchable."

If you look at our history of games in the past, it's not very often where we lose by more than ONE score. Actually, prior to the AFCCG game defeat vs Baltimore last year I remember a very long streak where we either won the game or lost by one score or less.

I don't see a repeat of any 48-21 games for this team, but I certainly wouldn't be shocked to see a loss by up to 10 points. That said, it will be of the utmost importance to take full advantage of every one of our possessions on offense to try and match them score for score.

I actually see this current 2013 team more in the vein of the 2006 team than the 2005 team.

In 2006, we also lost two in a row (IND and then the NYJ I believe) and yet we still finished with a 12-4 record and made it to the AFCCG. I'm not as sure about the 12-4 record as I see one more loss and an 11-5 record, but if we can get a break or two we may be able to make it back to the AFCCG again. Of course the bye would help a ton.

The 2005 was weak in many ways in my opinion. The 2006 team was limited, but not weak.

Manning doesnt play well in the cold..its a fact.....he's had pretty solid weather his last season. In Denver...theone time he faced adverse weather he lost tto the ravens. Notice too as the weather has gotten colder that offense has slowed down

Brady had a 72% completion rate against the #1 defense in the NFL..our defense will have a tough time defending Denver's receivers...but how about Denver's 28th ranked defense against ours? Fully healthy I think our weapons rank just as good as Denver's or pretty close to it imo

I see no quit in this team...win or lose they play to the last minute. In each of their losses they had a chance to win at the end...and you can make a case they were screwed out of shoddy officiating for 2 of those losses

Defensively, they're overrated. We shouldn't have any trouble moving the ball on them at all provided the OL can keep Phillips and Miller off Brady consistently. Offensively? Not so much. We need to strangle off those underneath routes and force ol' noodle arm to put the ball deep. Let McCourty patrol back there for those wobblers.

I would have had no issue whatsoever lining up in man to man with a healthy Dennard, Talib, and Gregory but, as it stands, Dennard is probably out, Talib is nursing an injured hip, and Gregory is recovering from a surgically repaired thumb and hasn't played football since before the bye. I think zone is the way to go in this one.

If the weather in Foxboro Sunday night is as nasty as they predict, then it may help a severely depleted New England defense as the last time Manning played in such frigid conditions, he was slinging around wounded ducks in the divisional round against Baltimore.

Moreover, the New England run defense could be the key to forcing the Denver offense into long second and third down conversion attempts. Last Monday night's game was promising, as they held the Carolina rush attack in check other than a few key Newton scrambles, and I think that Denver's running game is not as good.

Guess we will see how it all comes together Sunday night, but I anticipate another memorable game Sunday night (hopefully in a favorable light).

That 2005 team was the tattered remains of the Super Bowl teams. Bruschi was just coming back from his stroke, and we lost Rodney in late September. Aside from that game, Manning has never blown the lid off of the game against us, even when the talent disparity is embarrassing (2005,2006,2008, 2009).

We'll need to get lucky, no doubt, but I'll gladly sacrifice credit for being good for being lucky. Being good overall hasn't really helped us, or Peyton for that matter, in a long time.

What is Bill Belichick to do? He prefers to play 2-man coverage concepts, meaning man-to-man across the board with either both safeties up top or with one roving underneath. However, Belichick just watched Peyton Manning hang 27 points on the Chiefs’ man-based defense that he knows is better than his own. Belichick doesn’t have a speed-sacker like Tamba Hali or Justin Houston (though Chandler Jones is developing into a nice agile pass rusher), and he’s currently without No. 2 corner Alfonzo Dennard, as well as strong safety Steve Gregory. Gregory’s absence really hurts this week because he is New England’s best underneath route identifier. Presumably, he could recognize Denver’s staple intermediate route designs much better than third-round rookie replacement Duron Harmon.
