Broncos release ILB Andra Davis

Per Twitter. Bit of a surprise.

Run-stuffing 3-4 ILB. Had a good season last year with the Broncos:

I wanted the Pats to get him a few years back. I wouldn't be upset if they got him now.

I would've liked him when he was available a couple years ago but he's 32-33 now and was never a great player. I think we can do better, but I'm all for bringing this type of guy for cheap to see if he can break the 53.

He's 31 and won't be 32 until December.

Even assuming McKenzie is back healthy and able to contribute in his first full season, we only have 3 ILB's on the roster, and Guyton has some flexibility to move outside. Definitely worth bringing him in if he's interested.

Edit: I'm not counting Alexander as a real ILB. I consider him straight ST.

Unless there's more to the story than just the Broncos deciding to go in another direction, Davis is a player who'd be worth bringing in to compete for an ILB spot.

Definitely worth a flier IMO. Bring him to compete for a job at SILB. I thought he was pretty solid for Denver at ILB.

Does this signal a lot of interest in McClain from the Broncos? I think so.
