Broken Glass: Dowling to IR

But, however the team is put together, castoffs or undrafted FAs, the only thing that matters is, is this team seriously contending for the SB? While quite a few have written this off now, I do not see losing Bodden as the lynchpin for whether we were or were not going to be in the mix for the SB. It's a patently ridiculous belief put forth by those allowing too much of their emotions to dictate their written conclusions

Well said, brings to mind "remember Milloy"...

Cutting Bodden and Dowling going to IR are two distinctive things..

I suspect that Bodden may have been copping a bad attitude, with his diminished playing time... coupled with continual injuries, his presence was a liability for this team, he only had about 35 snaps in the last game..

Dowling got a serious hip injury...

Anyone who thinks that BB does not do what is best for the team is bat shyt crazy...

Lets see 1. No serious deep threat on offense. 2. Secondary remains extremely questionable 3. No moves at the trade deadlines means that AFC may be up for grabs again. The Brady clock is truly ticking away....

Well it seems that some do think he is bat shyt crazy. Starting threads about asking it Belichick should be fired?

We will never know why he makes the decisions he does, but he does what is best for the team IMO.

I sincerely hope BB authorizes the publication of his memoirs upon retirement. I'd love to read them.

BB always does what he thinks is best! While he certainly has not always been right, he's been right one helluva lot more than he has been wrong. From 2001 to the present, the Patriots have always been in contention; they've won 9 games or better each season, division champs 8 times, won 126 games in the decade 2001-2010 (a record), 3 NFL titles in 4 attempts, with the 1 Super Bowl loss occurring after an undefeated regular season. He' s done a lousy freakin' job, eh?

I'm quite content because we have a legitimate chance to compete for a title every year! I am enjoying every single second of this Belichick/Brady tenure, because it's been great and it won't last forever. Remember, the Patriots have kicked butt even in supposed rebuilding years, like last year's 14-2. Yeah, it sucked losing to the JSTE last year, but the Patriots actually accomplished a great deal in a rebuilding year.

There are tons of spoiled fans and bandwagoners, who cry that the sky is falling with every decision made which goes against their ideal. Hell, I remember many seasons when the major topic discussed was who the Patriots would pick with one of the first four picks in the draft. I try to enjoy my Sundays in football season - this ain't gonna last forever.

Would love to see it...

Hope he names it "It is what it is" A novel from a NFL Mastermind.

When you say "remember Milloy" in this context you are FORGETTING HARRISON.

Antwan Moulden and John Quincy Adams are not Rodney Harrison.

The Patriots added while subtracting in 2003. This year, tell me who they've added in the secondary?

Wow. Another brilliant draft pick by BB.

Wheatley, Bustler, and now Dowling. Someone please keep BB out of the draftroom next April.

Now the Bodden move makes sense...

Yeah...I don't get this one at all....but obviously Bodden must be either injured, or a malcontent. So far (at least as far as I have heard) he hasn't been picked up by anyone....must be some kind of nagging injury....otherwise it is sheer lunacy to cut this vet knowing that the glass man is going to go IR rest of year. Bodden wasn't playing great but I think he is better than Adams and Moulden at this point...no? Anyways, BB knows best....thats all we need to know right now

He's a classic, but he's no Jets fan. He's a Gillette season ticket holder I believe. Just someone who loves misery and has railed for years here about Kraft's 'cheapness' (tho' has hid that under his hat since Mrs. Kraft's passing).

Here is another epic call by our own Angry Bill from the Jets-Cowboys SNF Game thread this year - - 4 weeks before you-know-what happened:

"No, thank yoU! I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to take the bait But seriously, when was the last time the Patriots SCORED to win a game in the last two minutes?????? Each time, at least that I can remember, that the Patriots have had opportunities to win games in the last two minutes, they haven't....I'd love for someone to tell me the last few times the Pats won a game on offense inside four or two minutes...."

Dear Lord, can this guy PLEASE give us all tips as to which stocks we should buy - - just so we can all go out and make billions shorting them!

Maybe I am confusing him with someone else. There is definitely a "Pats fan" who post on this board mostly on game days who is really a Jets fan who gets his jollies by pretending to be an angry Pats fans trying to get others all riled up.

Actually, I am pretty sure there are several posters like this, but there is a regular.

1) Did we need a Deep Threat to beat the 5 teams including the NYJ this season???

We are a horizontal passing team. The playoff game was lost b/c of the lack of execution not b/c there wasn't a deep threat.

2) Kinda agree. One injury away from having Moldin or Smith starting for either Kyle or Devin

3) Seriously? AFC is up for grabs? Have you seen who is leading the conference? Have you seen who the hell our QB is? This is our division, this is our conference and none of the AFC teams scare me including the Ravens, b/c minus the playoff game, we have and taken Ray Rice, the only offense that runs through Baltimore, away.

Thats what is puzzling. BillB's CB drafts has been pretty poor over the last 5yrs.. Many of which have a history of injuries in College..

Dowling has a history of injuries throughout his college stay.. I mean it gets harder in the Pros, so why draft CBs with a history of injuries?

I hope the next CB they draft in 2012 (yes, they will) does not have a history of injuries...

Well I think obviously that "history of injuries" is something that can either cause trouble when they get to the NFL, or never show up again. There are alot of pros that had pretty significant injuries in college that have come to the NFL and tore it up and have rarely if ever ended up on the injury report. Then there are those like we seem to get....that just can't stay off the damned list.....If I ever hear the words "Well he's had alot of injuries in college, but I am sure BB is looking at him as a project....gonna stash him away on the PS this year.....but holy hell look out next year!".....I'm going to throw up. Tate and Dowling are two examples of those types of players that never seem to shake off the injury bug...or in Tate's case...seems to stay in their heads. He always played tentatively here I felt.....expecting his knee to give out. Anyways, too early to give up on Ras I- obviously....maybe he will come back next year and tear it up.....

And He is a SB HoF coach and your a schmuck on a laptop commenting on a blog. Heck, Mr. Kraft should hire you as a GM.

Y'all are posting some funny sh*t on here on this.....nasty...but funny....

Maybe they moving Ochocinco to CB

heck....why not? Maybe he can catch some balls when the opposing QB is throwing it to him.....

Yeah, the need for a deep threat is the most overrated thing this fan base cries about. A need for a deep threat is needed for a team with only two or three legitimate receiving weapons. This team has four or five.

I agree the secondary has some big question marks. But if the front seven continues to improve, the secondary deficiencies may be covered up.

The Pats should be the #1 seed in the AFC. Looking at their schedule, they should have more than two losses.

What a shock! A guy with an injury history in college brings it to the NFL. Another fine Belichick draft pick. Can Pat the Patriot play DB??

I swear...so much negativity. You would think we are 0-6 going on 0-7.

Heck, even my Colts friends last year, despite their deficiency in their defense, had more faith than half of you on this board.

Gillette is a hard surface; they should not draft fragile CBs such as Dowling and Wheatley; those guys should have played on grass.

Gillette is not a hard surface.. You claims were false when you said them 2 years ago. They continue to be false.. Not to mention you have absolutely no proof of this..

Read it

The Patriots just placed rookie CB Ras-I Dowling on Injured Reserve with a hip injury,

Any chance you might wager an over/under on how many games Ras will suit up and play in next year?
Conerback with hip problems......sounds promising

PS
Your Bruins suck!

Clearly you didn't read it well enough because it clearly said that the injury was actually in his leg, not his hip.

BTW, thanks for showing everyone the level of your intelligence.. Resorting to off topic issues..

BTW, "MY" Bruins won the cup just this past year. Are they having some issues now? Yes.. But that happens in hockey. I'd tell you to know what you're talking about, but you've made it clear that you have no intention of actually checking facts.
