Believe it or not, you don't go from a total failure on offense and defense to an elite SB bound one with no problems in a few minutes.

Whatever they were doing on the DL seemed to work better as they went along and it's great if we got a player in Deaderick. I assume Brace and Warren were doing something good, maybe the tape watchers can confirm since there's no stats.

OLB rotation looking pretty good if Cunningham and Nink continue improving, since we got vet TBC and athletic Crable in reserve.

Other positions mostly smooth.

Improvements?

Don't know what kind of psychology games BB is playing, but Arrington isn't an NFL CB now. If Wheatley's healthy, I'd like to see him play some, if not and Butler is messed up, they need to pick someone up. I mean, we're talking Wilhite/Arrington as starting corners next to a guy who's still learning? [At least McCourty's learning, but it's mid season.]

Is Fred Taylor healthy, or will this be a nagging injury, as toes often are for RBs? If Taylor's not available, I hope they look for another RB. Great to pick up Woodhead with Faulk out, but we'll run into more games where we need to force the run for a while against tough defenses and I just don't see more than run of the mill possibilities with BJ and Morris. Hope I'm wrong, but why wait til it hurts us?

That's it. Great, gutsy win. Hopefully, this young team can stay consistent, emotionally and not complacent.

WE just beat the best team in the NFL w/ that combo..... are you kidding me?????:bricks:

The defense will get better when the weather starts getting colder.

All the teams the pats played so far are good weather offenses.

Just wait until the snow and cold rain games

Woodhead is a very good rusher on the outside. BJGE is very good inside. (Ngata and Lewis made him look like shiz)

I like the combo.

I'm curious to see if Deaderick played well, surprised he started.

I think they will become more consistent as the season goes on. I still don't think they're a SB team at the moment it would take a lot more than this for me to believe that. But this is the kind of win we use to see on a regular basis back in the early to mid 2000's.

Sorry, I don't say the seasons over when we look a little rough, or say we're on the way to the super bowl with no problems when we squeak out an overtime win.

There's a whole front page full of "we're the elite" threads, right on top of the page full of "we're doomed" threads from two hours ago, so you don't need to participate in this thread if you don't want to.

We didnt think they were a super bowl team in 2000, til they actually won the super bowl. As long as they improve each week, thats all we can ask right now. As long as they have Tom Effing Brady and BB I never count them out.

I'll grant that defense makes a lot of running backs look not very good on the inside, but he was one of them. He was not very good inside today. If he is, against every other team, no problem. Myself, I feel if we don't have Taylor available, we could use a RB with a bit more versatility since Morris is a straight ahead runner at best also.

I didn't notice Arrington much after the TD he gave up. I'm hoping that's a good thing. Flacco looked like he had plenty of time on some of those 4th quarter/OT stops so the coverage was on point. Maybe someone who goes over the tape can shed light on whether Arrington got help on his man or what they did to accomplish that. I'm still hoping though that Butler can get his job back at some point.

The RB's I think are okay, or at least I don't see anybody out there for a reasonable price that will significantly boost the run game.

I definitely agree there is room for improvement, the drops and penalties would be a good start and those are easily fixable IMO.

We were horrible at every position on offense and defense a couple weeks ago, according to this board. I don't have much use for that type of thinking.

As a matter of fact, I think BB had given up on the season.

We've had two great wins in a row. Hernandez had some big drops today, but I think our TEs and receivers look real good.

To me, the best time assess weaknesses is when you are playing well. Trading deadline soon. We aren't going to have great emotional wins every week, sorry. I want to go all the way and that means honest assessment.

Great win, especially since the Defense went from looking horrible the first couple of possessions, to totally shutting the Ravens down, time after time at the end of the game, to bring home the win. A lot of this was because the Ravens tried to go into ball control in the second half and we completely shut down their running game. Our secondary was still getting torched by Flacco when Baltimore decided to go conservative, so there is A LOT of work to be done there. And a 1 game suspension for Meriweather might not be a bad thing if it wakes him the f#ck up. I agree with you, BB needs to be on the phone all night looking for a CB to trade Mankins for before the deadline, and possibly a safety if Sanders is hurt.

We were picking up and discarding back up receivers all year in 2001. We ditched Terry Glenn. Fred Coleman didn't sign until November 8 and he won us a game against the Jets even converting a 3rd and 3 for 46 yds and a Smith TD conversion. I don't think BB stops evaluating the team because they win.

I guess if everyone subscribes to the "everything's great" when we win, "everything sucks" when we lose, this thread will just die. So be it.

I was making the same point as you, just didnt come through. Your right BB never stops evaluating and who knows who he may bring in here before the year is out. These young guys now know that if they listen to the coaching, good things will happen.

Got my fingers crossed that the front seven is rounding into shape, that wasn't a guarantee by any means. Hope merriweather isn't turning into a head case, cause he's talented. The guy from KC, Page is an NFL starter, and Sanders is steady, so I'm not panicking at safety.

All props for Arrington for the effort, but i just can't believe he's going to be the starter all year. That's a hell of a jump at one of the most difficult positions on the field.

If anyone wants a little chuckle, read McClain's twitter!

He loves himself! He didn't lose the game, but he sure helped!

Sorry, I misunderstood. I really like this young team. I'm all for guys forcing their way into starting spots, but if we've got guys with talent content to be backups, maybe they have to go.

In my opinion, we need every player on a team like this, because we don't have a real veteran core. The Bruschi Rodney, Dillon etc. etc. teams needed good second tier players, because they were playing every down.

Most positions on this team could be in flux, because young players aren't going to be as consistent as Ty law, McGinest etc. BB might need to shuffle lineups to keep guys motivated or confident.

Just my opinion.

Devil's Advocate, if the Pats are not SB caliber at this point, who is?

Buddy of mine asked me, did Brace play today? I don't recall seeing him out there. Anyone?
